PARIS, FRANCE: It would be an understatement to say that 'The New Look' on Apple TV+ mostly concentrated on the fashion industry, given the show's major emphasis on the personal lives of Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) and Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche).

Things started to improve for Christian in terms of fashion during the last three episodes, as he finally opened his own couture house and began working on his fashion line.

But the situation is not as simple as it seems, as he faces several obstacles, first from his family and then from the couture council.

Why does Pierre Balmain accuse Christian Dior of stealing seamstresses?

Since Christian began his adventure to launch his own fashion line, things have become murkier than he could have imagined.

Initially, it was difficult for him to concentrate on the fashion house since Catherine Dior's (Maisie Williams) mental condition had deteriorated after her release from the Nazi concentration camp.

He was then demotivated by his elder brother, Raymond Dior (Alex Jennings), who commented that their family had a history of commercial failures.

The House of Dior is also understaffed and running out of time. To address the problem, he ends up poaching thirty seamstresses from other fashion designers, which irks Pierre Balmain (Thomas Poitevin).

While Christian is clearly blinded by his ambitions, Balmain tends to act childish, which is visible throughout the series, and this time he unleashes it on Christian.

He held him responsible for stealing thirty seamstresses from the House of Patou and vowed to make sure Lucien Lelong (John Malkovich), the head of the couture council, would make him pay for his actions.

Balmain is not the one to sit idle and see Christian stealing his workers. He threatens the seamstresses to withhold their ability to work for any other designer if they continue to work for him.

For apparent reasons, this prompted them to bid goodbye to Christian and go on their own way.

However, Lelong's silence exacerbates Balmain's problems. It seems like he's still upset with Christian for leaving his fashion firm and starting his own.

As time is running out and Christian is faced with a fresh set of issues, he is left in disbelief and begins to consider his options.

The last episode is really compelling and throws light on Christian as a designer who is eager to finish his fashion line on time, proving his commitment to his work.

All episodes of 'The New Look' are now available to stream on Apple TV+.
