'sMothered' Season 4: Fans slam Paula for totally 'ruining' her mother Francia's date

‘Can’t believe she’s letting her daughter ruin her date,’ said a fan feeling irked at Paula’s bratty behavior

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: TLC’s iconic reality show ‘sMothered’ Season 4 made its come back with a bang on August 9. It’s only the second episode so far, and we’ve already seen a blend of over possessiveness in daughters for mothers, daughters, and mothers roaming around and sleeping naked in the house, mother and daughter taking showers together, mother’s overprotectiveness to extent of living with daughter and her fiancé and constantly belittling the baby daddy, mother and daughters openly discussing their sex lives and so on. All this is considered a little more than too close by fans. Out of all the pairs, one of the newest and most controversial pairs in this season is definitely Francia and Paula.

Talking about them, fans have been staying away from this pairing because of their over-frankness and especially the daughter’s over-protectiveness for her mother which did make them angry with Paula last week besides the fact that they both roam around the house naked.

This time in the second episode of the show, we see that Francia greets her daughter a good morning and strikes up a conversation with her. She starts off by saying, “Maybe we can have our dinner date plan for tomorrow night. I haven’t told you something.” On this Paula quips, “What.” Francia answered, “I met someone.” On this Paula excitedly asked, “Who.” Francia replies, “His name is Chris. We are going to have our first date tonight.” Then we see a clip of Paula talking to makers, adding, “This is the first time that I’ve heard about this guy at all. I didn’t even think that she was thinking about dating right now. I absolutely hate it when she keeps secrets from me. I don’t keep anything from my mom. I tell her absolutely everything. She knows everything about me. So it hurts when I don’t get same treatment from her and especially if she keeps something as important as a date from me.” Francia answering Paula question of who the guy is said, “I met him on a dating site. We started talking. He’s very nice and intelligent. He invited me to have a coffee with him tonight. After that we would be having a nice dinner.” On this Paula said, “So you wouldn’t be coming back home after work,” and Francia replied, “No, I won’t.”

Francia whilst talking about her daughter shared, “I didn’t tell Paula because she really gets possessive of me. It’s like she owns me. She always wants to see my interactions with other men and wants to make sure that whoever am dating is a king that treats me like a queen.”

It so happened that within the episode, fans saw how Francia and Chris were apparently having a nice time together on the coffee date at Francia’s favorite place. They were all smiles and laughing when suddenly Francia’s daughter Paula made her entry uninvited and gate crashed her mother’s date. Her mother got really shocked and weirded out on seeing Paula and mentioned how it became a weird situation really quickly since she didn’t expect her daughter to show up. Francia introduced Chris to Paula and said, “This is my daughter.” On this Chris added, “Pleasure to meet you.”

As soon as this got noticed by fans, the majority of them started bashing Paula for not letting her mother Francia have some personal lone time by having a date with Chris on Twitter. They mentioned how it was downright rude and hurting that she crossed a big line by talking so brashly to Chris and took her mother away from there just because of her over-possessiveness for her mom. Many also told Francia to give Paula a real and needed reality check at home.

I would have sent her clingy ass home and went dancing. #smothered,” said a fan. “Francia better deal with that azz once they get home #smothered,” said another fan. “Her mom not putting Paula in her place is the reason why Paula acts like that #Smothered,” a fan noted. “Paula is in the role of the smothering mother for her mom on this show. This is too much. #sMothered,” noted a fan. “Paula, take your grown, toxic ass home and microwave some dinner. Leave your mom alone with her date.  #sMothered,” ranted another fan.

'sMothered' season 4 airs every Tuesday at 9 PM ET on TLC.
