LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The rosy days seem increasingly out of reach for the protagonist of Apple TV+'s 'Presumed Innocent,' as Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal) finds his troubles mounting with each new episode.

The miniseries, created by David E. Kelley, follows the story of a prominent prosecutor whose life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his colleague and secret lover, Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve).

Rusty is attempting to establish his innocence, but it appears that he is not as innocent as he claims. Episode 4 reinforces this idea as more evidence surfaces, forcing Rusty to lose control.

Episode 4 of the courtroom drama titled 'The Burden' opens with Rusty confronting his son Kyle Sabich (Kingston Rumi Southwick), who admits to knowing about Rusty's relationship with Carolyn and following him out of curiosity.

Intimidated by Rusty's tough questioning, Kyle only speaks to his mother, Barbara Sabich (Ruth Negga).

Meanwhile, Carolyn's son, Michael Caldwell (Tate Birchmore), becomes a crucial witness, believing Rusty to be guilty based on his mother's fear of a colleague, whom Michael assumes to be Rusty.

In his search for another suspect in the Bunny Davis case, Rusty teams up with Detective Alana Rodriguez (Nana Mensah) to confront Brian Ratzer (Marco Rodríguez), whose defensiveness and identification of Rusty heighten the tension.

Barbara, struggling with her job as a supporting wife and mother, finds relief in an affair with bartender Clifton (Sarunas J Jackson), yet remains devoted to her family.

Rusty's mentor and attorney, Raymond Horgan (Bill Camp), initially confident in negotiating a plea bargain, faces a setback when new evidence surfaces as Rusty's skin is found under Carolyn's fingernails, directly implicating him in the murder.

The episode concludes with Ratzer confronting Rusty forcefully at his door, causing Rusty to lose control as his case begins to unravel.

Episode 5 of the show promises heightened tension, with Rusty's legal fate hanging in the balance.

As fresh evidence surfaces, Raymond will likely devise a new strategy to address the discovery of Rusty's skin under Carolyn's fingernails. He might question the legitimacy of the evidence, suggesting it was contaminated or planted.

Following Rusty's violent outburst, it is reasonable to expect that he will face new challenges, since Tommy Molto (Peter Sarsgaard) may use it against him.

Barbara will continue to grapple with balancing her support for Rusty and her well-being. Her encounters with Clifton may intensify, potentially prompting a pivotal decision regarding her marriage.
