Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan, who hosted the 2022 Oscars nomination announcements, received mixed reviews for their performance on February 8 as they announced the award nominees via global live stream.

Jordan, an actor, writer, singer of 'American Horror Story' fame, paired up with Ross of 'Black-ish' fame on Tuesday, February 8, to host the post-pandemic version of the awards show nominations. Variety previously reported that the upcoming edition is set to have multiple hosts. The publication added that Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph were being considered, as were Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short.

Fans appeared rather disappointed with the hosts being unable to pronounce all the nominees' names properly. "On Ciarán Hinds... unbelievable that the Oscars, for a limited number of names, can't actually go and get their hosts to learn how to say all the nominees' names properly," reporter Richard Chambers tweeted.

"It wouldn't be #Oscars nomination announcement without the hosts butchering at least one name... poor Coreen Hends (Ciarán Hinds) and Denny Villnue (Denis Villeneuve)," one Twitter user wrote. "So glad I was awake at 5 am to hear Leslie Jordan mispronounce the names of most of the Oscar nominees in real-time. Definitely couldn't have stayed asleep and just read the list of noms when I woke up..." a comment read.

"I'm sorry, but we need to talk about the way Tracee Ellis Ross pronounced Ciarán Hinds' name in those nominations. KAREEN?! Come on now, it can't be that hard," someone else offered. "I have no idea who Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross are, but I don't ever want to see them again. #OscarNoms #Oscars," another chimed in

However, there were also some who loved the job Jordan and Ellis did and hoped to see them host the actual awards ceremony. "I'll say it, Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross should be the actual hosts of the #Oscars this year," one Twitter user opined. "I wouldn't mind Leslie and Tracee as the Oscar hosts," someone else added. "Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan were great in doing the Oscar nominations announcement - they both seem like good people," another wrote.
