As expected, Will Smith and Andrew Garfield made the nominees for the 'Best Actor' when the Oscar 2022 Nominations were announced on Tuesday on ABC. Both actors delivered breath-taking and scintillating performances in 'King Richard' and 'Tick, Tick...BOOM!' respectively and were among the names in the category that also included Javier Bardem ('Being the Ricardos'), Benedict Cumberbatch ('The Power of the Dog'), and Denzel Washington ('The Tragedy of Macbeth').

For Twitterati, who were up and about and followed the nominations, they were split between Smith and Garfield walking away with the 'Best Actor'. Should Smith bag an Oscar, it will be his first. The last time he came closer to holding the prestigious award was for his portrayal of Muhammad Ali in 'Ali', but it was Denzel Washington who walked away with the prize instead. Now, with the sports drama that sees Smith shape the careers of two of the greatest athletes in the world — Serena and Venus Williams, there's every chance that he will win the coveted award that's been elusive.
