LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The second season of the beloved ABC series 'Not Dead Yet' is set to stream on Hulu on Wednesday, February 7.

Created by David Windsor and Casey Johnson, the workplace comedy series is inspired by Alexandra Potter's book titled 'Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up.'

The show follows the journey of Nell Serrano (Gina Rodriguez), a woman who quits her lucrative journalism job to be with her true love, only to return five years later when things go wrong.

Left with no alternative, Nell finds herself returning to California, where she takes on a job as an obituary writer. The only catch is that she discovers a unique ability to communicate with the deceased person whose obituary she's tasked with writing.

With the second season scheduled for release on Wednesday, February 7, the majority of the original cast are expected to return to their roles, and a handful of new characters are set to make a brief but significant appearance in the series.

Let's take a look at the characters who are sticking around and the ones who joining the cast for the upcoming season.

Gina Rodriguez

Gina Rodriguez plays the role of Nell Serranoe, the series' central character, who has returned to California following a breakup, and is determined to pursue a career in journalism but ends up taking a menial job writing obituaries.

The sudden ability to communicate with the dead causes her life to take an unexpected turn. Initially alarmed by strange abilities, she undergoes gradual transformation, learning to appreciate the supernatural talent that provided her with a fresh outlook on life. 

Renowned for her lead role in 'Jane the Virgin,' she started her acting journey in theatre in 2003. She made her television  debut that same year with 'Law & Order.'

Known for her versatility, the actress has since appeared in 'Filly Brown,' 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' and the short film 'La Mala.'

Rick Glassman

In the series, Rick Glassman takes on the role of Edward, Nell's roommate. Edward is a high-functioning autistic man who follows strict rules in life, has a keen sense of humor, and has a distinct viewpoint on the world.

Glassman, a well-known comedian, rose to fame for his part in the television series 'Undateable' and its spin-off, 'The Sixth Lead.' Ohio native Glassman has publicly discussed his experiences with autism and is a mental health awareness campaigner.

Lauren Ash

Lauren Ash takes on the role of Lexi, the editor-in-chief, and Nell's supervisor in the series. Despite her tough exterior, Lexi is a soft person underneath.

Lexi, having inherited the SoCal Independent from her father, stands as a successful and motivated individual. She is very driven and expects nothing less from her employees.

Lauren Ash is a talented comedian and actress, best known for her role in 'Suprerstore.' Her work in sketch comedy brought her early recognition, and in 2006 and 2007, she won two Canadian Comedy Awards for Best Female Improviser.

Hannah Simone

Sam, Nell's closest friend, is portrayed in the series by Hannah Simone. Sam works as a lifestyle editor and balances the demands of his boss and the ever-evolving trends in the industry. With a keen sense of humor, Sam is a single mother raising a young boy.

In addition to her career as an actress, Simone is also an accomplished VJ. Her journey began as a model before making the switch to acting in 2005, where she made her debut with a small role in 'Kevin Hill.'

Her breakthrough performance was in the quirky fashion designer role in 'New Girl,' garnering international acclaim. Moreover, she lends her voice to 'Bob's Burger' and 'Big Mouth.'

Angela E Gibbs

Angela E Gibbs plays the role of Cricket in the television series. Despite her initial doubts, Cricket, the owner of a bar, supports Nell's ability to speak with the dead.

In addition to her wide range of acting abilities, Gibbs is a proficient writer, director, and acting coach. She has appeared in 'Hacks,' 'On My Block,' 'Love Jacked,' and Stone Cold Christmas,' among others.

Brad Garrett

Brad Garrett plays the role of Duncan Rhodes, the publisher of the SoCal Independent, in the series. Duncan, who is also Lexi's father, brings a humorous element to the plot with his persistent desire to push Lexi aside.

Garrett is a well-known comedic actor in the business, renowned for his versatile acting roles and rich voice. His most renowned performance came in 'Everybody Loves Raymond,' earning him an Emmy nomination. Additionally, he starred in films such as 'Big Shot,' 'Single Parents,' and 'The Cleaning Lady.'

Guest appearance in the second season of 'Not Dead Yet'

Plenty of cameos are expected in the second season of the show, which will air on an episodic basis, according to Variety.

Cedric Yarbrough, who is well known for his roles in 'Lucky Hank' and  'Reno 911!' will play the role of the bitter neighbor of Nell’s current ghost, who is a deceased IRS agent.

Another notable figure who will grace the second season of 'Not Dead Yet' is Jesse Garcia. He'll portray a sportswriter for the SoCal Independent who is a die-hard Cubs supporter and has chilly feelings for Nell.

Annie O'Donnell, well-known for her roles in 'Two Lives in Pittsburgh', and 'Ann,' will play Estelle, the character who encourages Nell to live life to the fullest and put more fun in it than worrying about starting a family.

Lidia Porto will make an appearance as Senator Diana Fernandez, Nell's current subject for obituary. She is a controlling woman who is struggling to let go of her son, even after her death.
