LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The beginnings of the adored pink jacket-clad female gang will be revealed in the 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' official trailer, which has just been released. The new Paramount+ musical series is set in 1954, four years before the first Grease, rock 'n' roll's glory, and the T-Birds' reign as the school's coolest group. In 'The Rise of the Pink Ladies', Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara play a gang of frustrated outcasts who dare to have fun on their own terms, setting off a moral panic that transforms Rydell High for good.

Co-directed by Alethea Jones, Jamal Sims, and Diego Velasco, 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' will premiere on Thursday, April 6, 2023, on Paramount+. After the officials dropped the first trailer of the prequel, fans took to Twitter to show their disappointment towards the upcoming show.

'Never cringed harder'

Looks like the trailer of the upcoming spin-off didn't quite sit well with the audience. Upon watching the trailer, fans quickly took to social media to show their true feelings toward the show. "Never cringed harder," said one fan when they saw the pink jacket gang making a comeback. Another fan believed that the upcoming series won't do good at the box office, saying, "The rise of another flop, sadly.." Some fans truly feel that rebooting original movies is not the best option. One fan said, "This is not needed... the original movies are great, on paramount plus and still hold up to this day why reboot it." The trailer ended up receiving some major backlash when one of the fans said, "That was awful to all the senses necessary to enjoy cinema." Spin-offs or reboots are usually quite risky in general, they end up hurting the "Original Fanatics." One user ended up saying, "This is so predictable. Insert oppressed, POC & LGBTQIA into a generational movie and BOOM it’s a formula for “left style entertainment”. I can’t tell if the producers are recognizing a money opportunity off of the left zombies or if they literally can’t think anything else up."

What was the original movie 'Grease' about?

The 1978 American musical picture 'Grease' was produced by Paramount Pictures and directed by Randal Kleiser. It is based on the 1971 musical of the same name by Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs, which is about two lovers at a 1950s high school. The movie stars Olivia Newton-John, Jeff Conaway, Stockard Channing, and John Travolta. It was well-received both critically and commercially; its soundtrack record concluded in 1978 as the year's second-best seller in the United States.

'Grease 2', a sequel featuring Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfeiffer, was released in 1982. The majority of the original cast members didn't return. 'Grease' continues to be a global cultural phenomenon among young people today. Men wanted their hair greased back in the 1970s manner, leather pants became in style, the songs were upbeat and entertaining, and love was the most common feeling. Everyone desired John Travolta's swagger. Because you can never go wrong with romance, it remains one of the most popular movie genres.
