'I am pinching myself': 'Avatar' sequel loses out top box office top as M Knight Shyamalan's 'Knock at the Cabin' collects $14.2M
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: M Night Shyamalan's horror flick 'Knock at the Cabin' topped the domestic box office with a $14.2 million debut this weekend, ending 'Avatar: The Way of Water's' reign at the top after seven weeks, Box Office Mojo reported. The 'Avatar' sequel still remained in the top five this week, coming in third place and earning $10.8 million more, while the second place was secured by '80 for Brady' bringing in $12.5 million.
The official synopsis of Shyamalan's movie reads, "While vacationing, a girl and her parents are taken hostage by armed strangers who demand that the family make a choice to avert the apocalypse." Directed by M Night Shyamalan, the screenplay is co-written by him and Steve Desmond along with Michael Sherman. The movie's star-studded cast includes Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, and Rupert Grint along with other actors.

'I am pinching myself,' tweeted Shyamalan
Upon receiving the news, the filmmaker took to Twitter to show his appreciation. "I am pinching myself," He said, before sending love to the fellow director and Avatar mastermind James Cameron, whom he called a hero. "Glad to be in theaters with you," Shyamalan said.

'80 for Brady' touched down in second place at the box office and earned $12.5 million. The third-placed 'Avatar' sequel continued to perform well this week, collecting an additional $10.8 million to bring the overall North American total to $636 million. After the first 'Avatar', 'Avengers: Endgame', and another James Cameron epic 'Titanic', the blockbuster movie surpassed all of those records to become the 11th highest-grossing domestic film of all time and the fourth-highest global movie. 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish', another sequel, came in fourth place with $7.9 million more in revenue, totaling $151 million. BTS secured the fifth spot with the debut of 'BTS Yet to Come in Cinemas', a special cinematic screening of the group's 'Yet to Come' concert in Busan. It debuted across 1,111 locations to an impressive $5.1 million.
