Netflix drops trailer for Christian Bale's 'The Pale Blue Eye', fans say 'real cinema is back'

Christian Bale is one of the greatest actors of all time and everyone gets really excited whenever it is announced that he will be starring in a new movie. From dark comedies to superhero movies, Bale has done it all and mesmerized us with his impeccable acting. The actor is set to enthrall us with another epic performance as he gears up to investigate a bone-chilling murder case in the upcoming Netflix movie ‘The Pale Blue Eye’.

Based on the novel of the same name by author Louis Bayard, a world-weary detective named Augustus Landor (Bale) is hired to discreetly investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet. However, things get worse for the investigator when he realizes that the cadets have a code of silence and can’t speak to him without getting permission from their seniors. When he finds out that it’s impossible to solve the case without cadets speaking to him, he takes help from one of their own to solve the case.

The first trailer released for the movie is packed with shots of eerie and nightmarish imagery that will undoubtedly make viewers curious about the movie. The clip begins with a team of several officers trying to find a missing cadet. However, soon they call off the search operation when they recover his dead body. The next 40 seconds are all about Bale’s character and Henry Melling’s Edgar Allan Poe facing a lot of difficulties to solve the murder mystery which also has a supernatural twist.

For the uninitiated, Poe was a renowned writer and poet who is best known for his poetry and short stories, especially his tales of mystery. He is also considered to be the inventor of the detective fiction genre.



 


As soon as the trailer for the Netflix movie surfaced online, fans couldn’t wait to share their excitement for the upcoming horror mystery film. Some fans said that real cinema is back while others were just in awe of Bale. One of the fans wrote, “Real cinema is back! W actors!” Another social media user tweeted, “The book is an Amazing read!! Can’t wait to see its film version.” Another Twitter user said, “Yes, this is gonna be good!!!!”



 



 



 

Meanwhile, one of the users said that Bale is coming for another Oscar win with his role in the movie. The user wrote, “Coming for another Oscar win.” Another user tweeted, “This might be one of the best Netflix movies if not the best.” Another user wrote, “Cinema at finest.”



 



 



 

Directed by Scott Cooper, the movie features a stellar cast that includes Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Toby Jones, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Robert Duvall, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Hadley Robinson, and Timothy Spall.

‘The Pale Blue Eye’ is scheduled to hit Netflix on Friday, January 6, 2023.
