‘Star Wars’ is one of the most iconic franchises in the history of cinema and has earned over $10.318 billion at the global box office. Over the years, we have a lot of iconic actors appearing in ‘Star Wars’ movies, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, and many others. Viewers love to see prominent actors being a part of the aforementioned sci-fi action franchise and if there’s a chance to have someone like Christian Bale on board, it just doesn’t get better than that.

Academy Award-winning actor Christian Bale stunned ‘Star Wars’ fans when he recently revealed that it’s his dream to be a part of the iconic franchise and would love to work in a ‘Star Wars’ movie even if he’s given a smaller role. Bale is one of the greatest actors of this generation or perhaps all time and has given several award-winning performances. He has been a part of ‘The Dark Knight’ Trilogy in the past and most recently, joined Marvel with the movie ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. However, he has never been a part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe, which continues to reach greater heights on Disney+.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Ford v Ferrari’ star he always wanted to be a background character like Stormtrooper in a ‘Star Wars’ movie “who hits his head on a door or something.” However, he also admitted that he will be “fortunate enough” if he’s given a more substantial role in one of the movies.

“All I ever wanted in Star Wars was to be in a Star Wars outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through. The real nerds who watched Star Wars way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be that guy. That was it. But look, if I’m fortunate enough to be more than that, oh man, yeah. What a delight that would be. I’ve still got the figures from when I was little,” Bale told The Hollywood Reporter.

Social media went berserk as soon as comments made by Bale surfaced online and spread like a wildfire on a platform like Twitter. Even though almost everyone was hoping to see Bale in a ‘Star Wars’ movie, there were many who didn’t want the actor to be a part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe as they feel that his acting talent would be wasted.

One of the fans wrote, “15 years ago, this would have been exciting news. Now, he'll just be wasted like every other talented actor Disney staples onto their terrible content to offset how much it sucks. In any case, it doesn't look like they're making new Star Wars movies any time soon.” Another social media user said, “Yeah I just know I would have been super excited about Christian Bale wanting to be a part of Star Wars years ago. I can picture him playing a few good characters. It's kind of a meh announcement to me now knowing whatever they do would likely end up wasting him.”

Another fan tweeted, “He’s too good for current star wars.”

“If you told me this 10 years ago I would have been really excited but considering how divisive the fan base is and how they complain about everything I don't think an actor like him should be subjected to that,” another social media user wrote. “No, cause star wars are ruined now and this will only ruin the actor,” wrote another fan.

We still have a lot of time before a ‘Star Wars’ movie hits theatres and there’s a lot of time for Lucasfilm and Disney to consider Bale for a prominent role in the franchise. Yes, the reactions have been mixed, but the star’s involvement in the series would make everyone excited for the upcoming slate of ‘Star Wars’ movies.

Bale will be next seen in David O Russell’s period mystery comedy film ‘Amsterdam’ alongside Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, and more.

‘Amsterdam’ is scheduled to release in theatres on Friday, October 7.
