NCT Jaehyun bags lead role in the remake of 2001 film 'Bungee Jumping of Their Own'
NCT, the 23-member group, is the biggest K-pop group in terms of the number of members. With so many talented members in the group, the lead vocalist of the group Jaehyun is one of the most loved idols in the industry. Back in September of 2020, it was announced that Jaehyun will be cast in the lead role for a KBS2 drama ‘Dear. M’, which was a sequel to the Kdrama, ‘Love Playlist’. This was around the same time as Jaehyun working as one of the three MCs on SBS’ music show, ‘Inkigayo’.
Soon after the filming of the show, the female lead, Park Hye-su, ‘Dear. M’ was embroiled in a school-bullying scandal. The release of the show, slated for February of 2021, was halted indefinitely. Fans who were able to see the trailer of the show became curious because they wanted to see their favorite idol in his first acting gig in the lead role for a K-drama. As the release of the show kept getting postponed, fans started getting restless. In April of 2021, it was announced that the drama would air in August of 2021 but no tentative release date has been announced even now.

Jaehyun bags new lead role
On November 2, it was announced that Jaehyun will appear in the lead role for the official OTT remake of the 2001 popular film, ‘Bungee Jumping Of Their Own’. It was reported that Jaehyun will appear as the main lead of the movie that is being turned into a web drama. He will assume the role of Lim Hyun-bin, one of the main leads of the story with whom Seo In-woo falls in love with. Fans have anticipated this story highly as it is most likely the first time Jaehyun will be portraying someone who is gay.
The 2001 film was directed by Kim Dae-seung and told the story of a high school teacher, Seo In-woo loses his one true love, In Tae-hee in a car accident. Years following her death, In-woo who is now a high-school teacher starts to notice similarities between his new male student, Hyun-bin, and his former lover Taehee.
The story has a bitter-sweet open ending and it would be interesting to see a modern take on the South Korean classic film from the early 2000s. The remake starring NCT’s Jaehyun will be produced in an OTT format by producer Choi Nak-kwon and aired by Kakao TV. Filming is scheduled to start in January of 2022. The show will have 16 episodes and each will be 25 minutes long and will be released as a Kakao TV original.
