NCT's Jaehyun joins KBS drama 'Dear M' with Kim Sae-ron and Park Hye-soo, fans can't wait to see him act

Jaehyun will be making his highly-anticipated acting debut as male lead Cha Min Ho

Some artists like South Korean singer Jaehyun are born multi-talented and know how to make the best of the right opportunities. The NCT singer will be venturing into acting with web drama 'Dear.M' created by the producers of the much-loved web drama series, ‘Love Playlist’ on KBS. As per the entertainment website Koreaboo, he is reported to have been cast as the main lead alongside actors of season four of ‘Love Playlist’, Bae Hyun-sung and Kim Sae-ron among others. The site further reported that ‘Dear.M’ will be like a spinoff rather than a continuation of the original ‘Love Playlist.’

Jaehyun will be playing the role of Cha Minho, a second-year computer-engineering student and shows talent in developing novel apps. The site further reported that KBS 2TV's new drama 'Dear.M', which has built a lineup of young actors, is aiming for the first broadcast in the first half of 2021. A synopsis of the show reads: “Dear.M” will tell the story of the campus-wide search for the mysterious “M,” an individual who is mentioned in an anonymous post on a Seoyeon University online community. The realistic romance drama will follow the changing relationships and budding romances between various characters in the wake of all the buzz about “M.” Park Hye-soo will star as Ma Joo-ah, a second-year business administration major who has never had a boyfriend and is constantly meddling in others’ affairs due to her inquisitive nature. The two sophomores are childhood friends who have been BFFs for the past 12 years.

Previously on August 4, the representatives of the producing firm, Playlist, declared that they had cast Jaehyun for the role in the new show and were in talks with Jaehyun’s management, SM Entertainment. Currently, Jaehyun is one of the core members of the NCT and is occupied with his activities as an MC on a weekly chat show, ‘Inkigayo’ as per website Koreaboo. His journey till now has mostly been limited to music where the star became a fixed MC for the music show ‘Show Champion’ from January to June 2015. Further, in 2016, Jaehyun along with his other band members Taeyong, Jaehyun, Yuta, Mark and ESteem models Arum, Yuri, Lee Hyun, Euisu, and Sehee from NCT 127 featured in a special performance video which was in collaboration with W Korea magazine and model agency ESteem for their then-unreleased track, titled ‘Good Thing’.

However, he will be showing his acting skills for the first time which is why the Internet is abuzz with his fandom congratulating him. Fans cannot keep calm and are tweeting about his role in the upcoming series. A fan said, “It says later in the article that Jaehyun will play as Cha Minho a sophomore in computer engineer who is talented and develops genius apps and has incredible ideas, he has been besties for 12 years with the character Park Hyesoo and has great chemistry.”

Fans' excitement levels really peaked after the news dropped. “Woke up to so many good news.Baekhyun for a new OST, Jaehyun confirmed making his acting debut, SuperM special Vlive!” 

Some endorsed him saying that he already had the acting caliber and potential to make it big in the industry. “Before stanning Jaehyun I always knew he had the face of an actor someone that would be so big in the industry in the near future I'm so glad he's finally getting this opportunity to show off his acting skills. I cannot be more proud. I'm so happy for him.”

Others brought out his past endeavors in modeling and singing. “Remember how in the first half of 2020, we got 'model Jaehyun'. in 2021, we will finally get 'actor Jaehyun'. I'm so happy & proud of him for gradually achieving his dreams & being offered a lot of opportunities. He truly deserves it.”

Most see it as a great opportunity for Jaehyun.“The way that Jaehyun and Jisoo are finally getting acting roles this year is a win.” 

Others discussed his role as a college student. “JAEHYUN GIVING SOME COLLEGE STUDENT VIBES HERE AND CAN'T WAIT FOR HIS ACTING GIG.REALLY.”
