Jon King whose stage name is King Kyote performed on the stage of 'American Song Contest' representing Maine. The singer-songwriter is an up-and-coming artist who has played at many iconic venues throughout Maine and local festivals, as well as shows with many local popular acts such as Ghosts of Paul Revere, Rustic Overtones,  and The Mallet Brothers Band. He has also released his song titled 'Gold Fades' last year, so he's already relatively known.

He shared his love for surfing and the people of Maine, drawing his experience living there for his song. For his turn, he performed a song called 'Get Out Alive' which has a country and indie rock vibe. The singer shared that he wanted to give the feeling of drinking whiskey under the stars around a campfire to the audience. Although he had solid vocals his song failed to garner much praise and didn't come off as attention-worthy. Commenting on his mediocre performance, this is what viewers had to say about his song.

A fan commented, "OMG. So many clichéd rhymes in Maine’s song. #AmericanSongContest", while another said, "Love the voice of King from Maine but not my song. #AmericanSongContest". A fan had the opinion, "Maine was just eh. Good vocals but nothing too memorable #AmericanSongContest".

Another viewer said, "The #Maine song is appealing, but it’s not knocking my socks off like I expected. This might be one of them that really grows on me. #AmericanSongContest", while one fan kept it short and said, "Meh #maine .. meh #AmericanSongContest". A tweet also read, "Maine was ok, that’s it #AmericanSongContest".
