'American Song Contest': Veteran singer Michael Bolton steals the show, viewers say 'not fair'

Michael Bolton was one of the big names touted to do well on 'American Song Contest' and safe to say, the man representing Connecticut didn't disappoint as his 'Beautiful World' sent fans into a tizzy. Bolton's was the sixth performance of the evening and after what was declared ho-hum and average acts, the veteran singer's act was a refreshing one to fans. Hosts Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson were all praise for Bolton and so was Twitterati.

Bolton originally performed in the hard rock and heavy metal genres from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, but this smooth single showed his seamless transition to a new beat. "Yeah, good old classic emotive Eurovision style staging there for Michael Bolton's song The moody silhouette? The lift of the lights? The choir? The pyro? All hallmarks Imagine if THIS didn't qualify...! " one of the fans wrote. "Michael Bolton showing the kids how to do it . #CT #AmericanSongContest @nbc," another opined.

The love from the state was out there to see. "Ah, Connecticut’s Michael Bolton, loved you back in the day, #AmericanSongContest bring it home for us," a fan remarked.
