GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA: Babs, the mother of 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life' star Whitney Way Thore, suffered a second stroke early this year after recovering from her first in 2017, leaving the family โ€” and the show's viewers โ€” worried about her. With four episodes in, it appears that viewers are becoming more interested in learning more about Whitney's long-distance lover, as they believe Babs' health has become the season's key plotline.

Babs is leaving the rehab center and going into a senior living complex, according to the August 30 episode. Whitney starts by brainstorming prospective locations for Babs, after the rehab center. Whitney gets Babs an interim assisted living home for a couple of months while her parents' house is being renovated. Glenn expresses how critical it is for them to find Babs in a community that provides recovery similar to what she is receiving from in-patient rehab. They surely don't want Babs to back down because she isn't getting the attention she requires.

Whitney phones Abbotswood Retirement Place in Greensboro, North Carolina one week before Babs's transfer because she feels it is the ideal type of senior living community for her mother. Not only do the Thores want the greatest care for Babs, but they also don't know when the renovations at their house will be finished. They believe wherever she is, she has to be happy. Whitney, who has taken it upon herself to find the best living community for her mother, goes above and beyond.

As the family patriarch, Glenn, discussed Babs' recovery from her significant health scare, viewers learned that Babs' rehabilitation encountered a discouraging hurdle. Things have slowed a little as the family has sought to locate a new home for Babs. In a confessional, Glenn claims Whitney was in charge of choosing an assisted living place. Shannon, the lady she's dealing with, requested him to come over and have a look at everything it has to offer. Glenn tells his children, Hunter and Whitney, that he urged Shannon to go ahead and start saving the space, and the apartment, but he wanted to talk to his children first to make sure they agreed.

Whitney and Hunter confirm this, and Whitney resolves to contact them right now. However, when Glenn pulls out his phone to make the call, he finds he has a message from Shannon. Whitney reads the texts and delivers the devastating news that the flat has already been taken. Shannon does mention that another one may become available, but they won't be able to confirm this until later. Glenn, upset, adds that this is exactly what he was afraid of, that they're down to the 11th hour and performing a scramble round. Whitney then admits in a confessional how hard it has been trying to find a place for her mother to live.

It's been really tough to locate a home for their mother; many places don't have openings and don't know when they will. Most communities do not allow you to book a room until a few days before the patient is scheduled to be discharged. Whitney says, now that they have this great home, they have this small window, and someone gets it before we do. Whitney confesses to Hunter and Glenn that this specific assisted living complex was the only one they could discover that was suited for Babs. Whitney's brother Hunter expresses his disappointment in a confessional, telling the cameras, how if this doesn't work out, there's nothing else we can do for her. They were unwilling to place her in a facility with fewer than perfect recommendations.

While viewers are pleased to discover how the Thores secured a place for Babs towards the end of the episode, they have a different concern. For starters, fans keep questioning Whitney's decision of putting her mom in a facility: "It would have been better for Babs to come home and have professionals look in on her! #MyBigFatFabLife #MyBigFatFabulousLife." Seeing Whitney go overboard in decorating the place for her mom, another fan wrote: "Whitney is doing too much with Babs apartment so annoying! #MyBigFatFabLife." Questioning if Babs would be living alone in the facility, a fan asked: "Is Glenn going to be living with Babs at the apartment? #MyBigFatFabLife." Another fan asked why Babs is not getting taken care of at home: "Wouldnโ€™t it have been easier to bring Babs home and have a home health with her while Glenn is gone? #MyBigFatFabLife."

One thing that fans were most curious going into this season was learning about Whitney's long-distance boyfriend, the "Frenchman." But with four epsiodes in, the topic has been rarely addressed. Hence, fans feel they're robbed off information as the season continues to make Babs' health the central plot. A fan tweeted: "I so agree. Babsโ€™ recovery is basically the whole storyline this season so far. I feel for them and wish Babs the absolute best, but whereโ€™s the Frenchman story?? #MyBigFatFabLife." Calling the season so far "boring," a fan wrote: "I've been watching #MyBigFatFabLife since the beginning...I really like Babs and hope for her speedy recovery. But I'm finding this season REALLY boring." Demanding more story on the "Frenchman," one fan tweeted: "I love seeing Babs' recovery but where's the recap of the trip to Paris and the Frenchman? #MyBigFatFabulousLife #MyBigFatFabLife #MBFFL."
