GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA: In this week's episode of 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life,' Whitney Way Thore's fertility struggle continues. The current season revolves around Whitney's mother's recovery, however, in the second episode of Season 10, she receives bad news about her baby-making plans.

In a segment from the August 16 episode, it is shown that while Whitney's friend Heather Sykes consented to be a surrogate, her doctor informed her that she was not a good choice. "For Whitney to ask me to be a surrogate for her is a huge honor," Heather says in the episode, noting that her doctor's visit took place when Whitney was in France, where her boyfriend resides. "For a surrogacy, you want the very best case scenario," Heather explains. "And my body simply isn't."

Whitney and Heather are seen speaking with another acquaintance, Ashley Baynes, about the incident. Whitney says she does not believe she will seek out an unknown individual to be a surrogate, at least not at this time. Whitney replied she isn't sure whether she still wants children when Ashley checked. "I don't know, but now with my boyfriend in the picture I am kind of like…if I do it, I want to do it with him and with him on board, you know what I mean?"

Ashley then inquires whether Whitney's boyfriend, who has requested anonymity and has not been identified on the TLC show or on her Instagram, is aware that she has frozen her eggs. Whitney claims he is aware — and that he urged her to do so. Ashley stated in a separate interview that while she understands why her friend wanted to freeze her eggs, she is unsure "how much she should be waiting on her boyfriend. He lives on another continent," she explained. "I don't want Whitney to put her hopes on someone else and then have it be too late one day."

Whitney's fertility struggle, which she shared on the show for years, finally culminated at this moment. Whitney saw a fertility specialist last season, who verified that she was a suitable candidate for preserving her eggs for a future surrogate. Whitney confessed on the show in 2018 that, while wanting children, she was unsure if she could have them owing to her polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS. PCOS is a hormonal disease that impacts fertility and resulted in her having a false pregnancy in 2016.

"I think I've been avoiding my real feelings about whether I want to have a child or not," she said in a side interview at the time. "It's hard because I don't have a boyfriend, I can't even get a date, and on top of that, even if I had that, I have fertility problems. So, it's just kind of a hard thing to face when you feel like you're running out of time."

Similar to Ashley, fans took to social media to share their concerns after the episode aired. A fan wrote: "Whitney, Sis...please tell me you're not trying to have a baby with French Fry... #mybigfatfabulouslife #MyBigFatFabLife." Another viewer felt Heather's intention to carry Whitney's baby wasn't real: "I do not think Heathers hair is cute. Get real you were not going to carry whit baby another bs storyline cough chase #MyBigFatFabLife." One other viewer speaking of Heather wrote: "I totally do not believe that Heather was EVER going to carry Whitney's baby....that was never going to be the plan and Whitney cant even get her dog to like her so a baby? NO. #MyBigFatFabLife."
