Participant lineup
Ever since Mnet announced that they would be launching ‘Queendom 2’, fans were guessing at the lineup. There were several rumors and predictions circulating of Dreamcatcher, Weki Meki, Loona, Brave Girls, Everglow, fromis_9 and more joining the lineup. Well, we finally have the confirmed lineup.
Brave Girls
Having debuted in 2011, they are the oldest act in the lineup. While they were on the verge of disbanding, they saw a good fortune in 2021, with the chart reversal of their 2017 song ‘Rollin’ as it went viral following a YouTube compilation. It topped several charts and ranked high on Billboard and iTunes following which they had a popular reunion comeback, and got their first lightstick and solo concert 10 years after their debut. They’re planning their next comeback for March.
Hyolyn
Hyolyn was the leader of the immensely popular second-gen girl group, Sistar and made her solo debut in 2013. While she is known for her heavenly vocals, toned and tattooed body and embodying the ‘Summer Queens’ title that Sistar was dubbed, as a soloist her comebacks have been very rare. After her viral hit ‘Dally’ in 2018, she is again turning heads with ‘Layin Low’ that she released in January 2022.
WJSN
WJSN aka Cosmic girls is a K-pop and C-pop group that debuted under Starship and Yuehua in 2016. They had their moments in the 2010s from martial art tricks in their performances to collaborating with the likes of their labelmate Monsta X, and Weki Meki. However, it has been a while since we see all 13 members together with the sub-unit Chocome coming back recently with the campy single ‘Super Yuppers!’.
Loona
While there were rumors that their label Blockberry Creative had gone bankrupt, it seems that they were just rumors or they have bounced back as they have big plans for the girl group. Loona had their first offline concert in three years with plans of a world tour. Blockberry also signed on their second artist Sunye, the former leader of Wonder Girls.
Kep1er
Kep1er is a project group that was formed with the winners of Mnet’s ambitious survival show ‘Girls Planet 999’. They got their first music show win just 10 days after debuting on January 3 and their album ‘First Impact’ became the second-highest selling debut by a K-pop girl group with 200k sales.
Viviz
The second rookie group in our midst is Viviz who debuted in February. They also tied with monster rookies IVE to become the fastest girl group to get a music show win as they won a week after their debut. It should also be noted that the three members were part of the iconic third-gen girl group GFriend.
'They just debuted'
Well, the confirmed lineup is quite different from the rumors that has K-pop Twitter divided. A Kep1er fan tweeted, “Kep1er is like a temporary group and recently got out of gp999.. Plus they just debuted.. Idk y mnet decided they should be in the lineup when groups like dreamcatcher and fromis 9 need this the most.” Another added, “Wait kep1er also on queendom? they just…debuted…from a reality show?!” A Viviz fan wondered, “Viviz just debuted 2 weeks ago WHO ARE THEY GONNA COVER? GFRIEND? SKSKSKKS.”

Another hoped, “When viviz pulls a 2ne1 stunt on queendom for their final performance and invite the other gfriend girlies IT’S OVER!” One fan posted, “The fact that dreamcatcher and everglow being not included in the lineup of Queendom doesn't make sense at all.. FROM THE BEGINNING, Many fans were anticipated that everglow or maybe dreamcatcher will be one of the lineup of Queendom 🙄 mnet is scared by their performances ig?” Another commented, “With Queendom’s lineup out, at least now we know Dreamcatcher is definitely preparing a huge comeback. it’s still a missed opportunity tho mnet.”

One fan shared, “I mean how come dreamcatcher and everglow are not in queendom 😭 such a loss for mnet istg.” An Orbit joked, “Once queendom airs, loona island is gonna be a war zone.” Another added, “Not viviz bringing wjsn's member count back to 13.” One fan added a reaction meme, “Brave girls hyping up the toddlers on queendom.” With Brave Girls’ last album being called ‘Summer Queen’, one fan made a reaction meme, “Hyolyn putting a nail in they coffin as soon as they say something about summer.”
