ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 aired a brand-new episode on May 14, 2023, as it documented the Top 5 contestants performing on the stage as part of Disney Night. The Disneyland magic was quite apparent as the finalists delivered iconic performances to impress judges and earn enough votes from viewers to keep moving forward.

Since ABC acquired the rights to 'American Idol' in 2018, viewers have been torn between two questions, with the first one being who the winner will be and the second one being about what will Katy Perry wear on Disney Night. Katy dedicates her outfit to 'all the mothers'

Disney Night has become a fan favorite on 'American Idol,' and each year, fans look forward not just to hearing the finalists perform classic Disney songs, but also to see which Disney character costume long-time judge Katy will wear. Katy not only dresses up as the characters, but she also adapts their personality, making the evening fun and thrilling for everybody. Katy has had several memorable looks throughout the years, ranging from princesses to villains and everything in between.

Since the revival of 'American Idol' by ABC in 2018 following its discontinuation by FOX in 2016 after 15 seasons, Disney Night has been a popular theme in the competition series. The ABC network's parent company is The Walt Disney Company. The contestants perform some of the most popular Disney songs, ranging from Disney princess ballads to hero anthems to classics that fans have adored for years.

Katy has provided tonnes of Disney fun for the past five seasons of the 'American Idol' reboot. She gave her individual personality to every character, whether she was onstage in the theater or streaming from home during the Covid epidemic.

Katy has turned into Cinderella, Snow White, Ursula, Mrs Jumbo, Tinker Bell, and Ariel on ABC's reality program until the May 14 episode. Her cohorts Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Ryan Seacrest have yet to get into the Disney mood by dressing up, but they always have a good time bouncing off Katy's boundless energy.

Katy dressed out in full Disney costume for Sunday Night's Disney theme. She astonished the crowd tonight by dressing as Mrs Incredible aka Elastigirl. Katy explained that she donned the outfit to honor "all the mothers."

Meanwhile, Lionel and Luke went for a more relaxed approach, sporting jeans, and black jackets.

Ryan Seacrest, the host of 'American Idol,' questioned the costumed Katy, "Is this a safer costume than last year?" before noting that the idol judge had "trouble" getting into her chair last year.Katy quickly sprang to her feet and exclaimed, "That's right! I did but you know, I love this costume because this!"As she turned towards the audience, she rotated her hips and thrust her butt into a retreating Luke's face. The country singer appeared surprised and a little scared as he held his hands in the air as the 'Dark Horse' musician thrust her buttocks in his direction.

'Why don’t they just call it The Katy Perry Show'

Seeing Katy judge the entire episode in her costume, a fan tweeted, "I cant take Katy Perry seriously." Another asked, "How is Katy Perry walking in that outfit." Another concerned fan tweeted, "What’s Katy going to do when she needs to use the bathroom?"

One frustrated user tweeted, "There goes Katy with stupid costumes & taking away from the talent & what the show is suppose to be about. AbC paying her too much, & need to get a better & mature judge. #AmericanIdol #FireKatyPerry #TimesupKaty."

One viewer also complained, "Watching American Idol for likely the last time. Why don’t they just call it The Katy Perry Show and get it over with? The show is all about her, not the contestants."

On Reddit, one user wrote, "Normally just wanna drool over Katy but shes she looking creepy tonight." Another person added, "Katy’s costume schtick sucks so bad." One person commented, "OH NO, KATY IN THAT COSTUME."

'American Idol' Season 21 airs every Sunday and Monday at 8 pm ET on ABC.
