BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 recently unveiled the list of the Top 8 contestants who will vie in the upcoming episode. However, the latest episode saw the elimination of two contestants, Marybeth Byrd and Tyson Venegas.

The latest round was the Judge's Song Contest, where Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan chose a song for the contestants to sing, and then the contestant makes the final decision. However, the judge whose songs were picked the most won a chance to save a contestant. After winning the contest, Katy reflected on how she has remained the constant target of 'American Idol' fans. But the pop artist made it clear that the online hate did not bother her.

Katy Perry reflects on 'online hate'

While Lionel and Luke took the judges' chairs during the latest episode, Katy makes a round of the stage to say hello to her fans before the show's host Ryan Seacrest pulled her back to reality and the judge's table. Later, Ryan made his way down to the judging table and exchanged words with Katy. The host explained the rules of the Judge's Song Contest, and asked the live audience, "Who's gonna win?" Katy then stopped everything and yelled, " Hold on! Hold on!" She added, "Listen, we talked about this backstage."

Katy then seemingly addressed the online trolls and said, "We may win the save, but we will get destroyed online for a week." She questioned, "So, is it really a win?" However, with Katy's latest statement, it is clear that she and the other judges are well aware that some of their choices this season have been less than favorable among fans.

Katy Perry wins judge's song contest

Katy won the Judge's Song Contest and was granted the privilege of saving one of the three least-voted contestants. Katy chose Oliver Steele and fans are now doubting her choice. Social media users accused Katy that she picked Oliver because his dad, who had a debilitating stroke last year and has been very sick, would attend the show next week. A Twitter user wrote, "KATY PICKED OLIVER OVER TYSON? Fire that whole damn panel. They are fucking clueless. #AmericanIdol." Another viewer noted, "Katy would have been better going to the Met Gala cause she sure didn’t save the right contestant on #AmericanIdol tonight." "The only reason Katy chose him is because he said his dad was comin next week if he made it thru," added another person. Another Instagram user wrote, "Katy STOOD UP cheered and he picked her!! She’s a knucklehead lol." Another viewer noted on Instagram, "Katie did this wrong!!!!!!"
