Fans claim YG has been taking down clips of Somi's Instagram Live confirming that it was indeed Blackpink's new song

By now all of K-pop Twitter are aware that Blackpink has had no comeback in over one year and five months. Blinks (Blackpink’s fandom) are constantly asking the label, YG, to give the global K-pop group a comeback. In fact, both Jennie and Jisoo had assured fans that Blackpink was indeed working on an album at the moment. There is also a rumor going around that they will come back after the summer of 2022. And it looks like Jeon Somi has partially confirmed it.

Beloved soloist Somi is signed to YG’s subsidiary label, The Black Label. However, she too uses YG’s building and is one of the three female acts there including Blackpink and AKMU’s Suhyun. Well, on March 2, Somi had gone live on Instagram and was chatting with fans. She shared fun stories about her time in JYPE and her friendship with Stray Kids’ Bang Chan and aespa’s Giselle. At one point, she walked into a practice room where fans now think they heard Blackpink Jennie’s voice.

Fans hear Blackpink's Jennie in Somi’s live

Somi went past a practice room and as she opened the door, viewers could hear a female voice singing. The soloist immediately closed the door and ran with a panicked look on her face that fans found hilarious. They pointed out that had she not reacted that way no one would have thought too much. But now several Blinks feel that the person singing in the practice room was Jennie and it was either for a new Blackpink song or for her first solo comeback. And with YG taking down clips of the live, fans feel it is confirmation enough that the song is Blackpink’s or Jennie's.

Somi has been trending since last night as fans made funny memes and tweets like, “The way Somi ran as fast as she could away from the studio when she heard Jennie. She's done fr.” Another fan posted, “Somi’s notifs rn after that live.” One asked, “So what happened last night, somi?” Another joked, “A brave soldier, you will always be remembered somi.” They also made reaction memes like, “Yg asking everyone who accidentally leaked the song somi:,” and “Somi explaining after spoiling blackpink’s new song rn:.”

One fan wanted to confirm, “DID SOMI JUST SPOIL A BLACKPINK SONG? 😭why am I hearing Jennie.” Another used the iconic ‘Euphoria’ meme, “Somi after spoiled that song.” One added, “Somi be preparing a 1000 word essay to explain why there was a leak to bps leaked song.” A Blink noticed that clips of Somi’s live was being taken down by YG and shared, “Thank you Somi but #freesomi.” Another commented, “I saw someone say ‘next somi comeback is in 2025, i fear’ YALL ARE RUTHLESS STOP IT.”
