Kelly Clarkson reportedly won't return to 'The Voice' as Reba McEntire set to join Season 24 as coach
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' Season 23 just bid farewell to OG coach Blake Shelton. However, the NBC show will return this fall with a new line-up of coaches. Niall Horan will return for Season 24 as coach, as well as John Legend and Gwen Stefani.
Meanwhile, Reba McEntire, who served as a mega mentor in Season 23, will replace Blake Shelton. Notably, Kelly Clarkson is speculated to take a break from 'The Voice' again. Clarkson, who started on the show as a coach on Season 14, returned to 'The Voice' in Season 23 after taking a hiatus due to her hectic schedule.

Clarkson will reportedly not return for Season 24. Although the singer hasn't revealed her reason to take a break from the competition again, there are speculations that she is taking a step back as her ex-mother-in-law McEntire will take the coach chair. McEntire and Clarkson have a long history of drama. Viewers have seen Clarkson and McEntire's friendship on NBC show which dates back to 2002. But past drama might hold Clarkson back to return for the new season. McEntire is Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's stepmom. Clarkson ended her messy relationship with Brandon for good. But McEntire always wanted to reunite the ex-couple which often stirred up drama among them.
Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson have a history outside 'The Voice'
Clarkson and McEntire share a close off-camera bond. Clarkson has performed a duet of her hit song 'Because of You' for McEntire's 2007 album 'Duets.' McEntire and Clarkson have performed multiple duets together over the years, but their relationship goes beyond musical collaboration. Clarkson and McEntire were briefly related through marriage. McEntire married her manager and former steel guitar player, Narvel Blackstock, in 1989. Narvel was Clarkson's former manager, and Clarkson married his son, Brandon. However, the family latest only for two years as McEntire and Narvel divorced in 2015. Meanwhile, Clarkson and Brandon finalized their divorce last year, however, McEntire still believes that they should reconcile. McEntire has also previously urged Kelly to take her ex-husband back. McEntire constant efforts to reconcile Clarkson with Brandon have strained their relationship and caused tension between the two women.
