Kelly Clarkson settles divorce, will pay $1.3M monthly spousal support to Brandon Blackstock
Kelly Clarkson's divorce from Brandon Blackstock has been settled. The 39-year-old American singer will pay her ex-husband, a massive one-time payment of just over $1.3 million, as well as a monthly child support payment of $45,601 for their two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander.
Back in June 2020, Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock after seven years of marriage. In July last year, Clarkson requested the court to declare her as legally divorced. The singer reasoned that she and Blackstock both deserve the opportunity to build a new life, rather than being stuck in relationships where neither of them was happy. The couple was quite low-key about their divorce. In, August last year, the Voice judge was declared legally single, but the divorce process was ongoing, but now it's finally settled.
Now, Clarkson will get both of their Montana properties, but Blackstock can stay there until June, but he will have to pay the singer $2,000 per month. In addition to the one-time payment, the American Idol star will also have to pay her ex $115,000 in spousal support per month until January 31, 2024. The spousal support amount is quite lower than what the court had ordered Clarkson to pay before; in July last year, the singer was ordered to pay Blackstock $150,000 per month, as spousal support, in addition to the $45,601 per month for child support.
The former couple also agreed that both kids, River Rose and Remington Alexander, will be vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus, as they will be traveling out of state to see their father at the former couple's Montana ranch, where he'll be living for the time being. The couple also agreed on having joint custody of their kids, although the children will live at Clarkson's Los Angeles residence.
According to a report by the People, the Stronger singer is actually doing great. A source told the publication, "She is doing great and facing forward; she's enjoying the fact that she has the kids for the vast majority of the time and is enjoying time spent with them."
Besides, the kids and the properties, the court documents also state that the singer will get the family pets, multiple cars including a Ford Bronco, a Ford F-250, and a Porsche Cayenne, as well as a flight simulator. While, Blackstock will get the former couple's farm cattle, livestock, stock dogs, and horses, multiple vehicles including a Ford F-350, a Ford F-250, an ATV, and several CAT snowmobiles. The 45-year-old will also get a golf simulator and a couple of Patek Philippe watches.
