'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 struggles with viewership despite high scores—raising doubts for Season 3
'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 premiered on Disney+ on March 24 with much fanfare and went on to receive praise for its gritty tone and clean storytelling. However, the neo-noir series has failed to grow its viewership over the last seven weeks. Some reports show that the second installment has seen a 50% drop in viewership compared to Season 1, which premiered in March 2025, raising doubts about the show's long-term future. Season 3 is already in the bag as the next installment was renewed way back in September 2025, and is currently filming in New York City. However, as the show heads into its finale week, its low ratings have fueled speculation about the next season's production.

After the penultimate episode aired on April 28, the X account Wong Updates posted the following update: "DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN’ season 3 has halted filming due to low viewership. Marvel is reportedly considering a second creative overhaul for the series." It must be noted that Marvel has not officially announced the news, so the veracity of the claim is highly doubtful. Moreover, Season 3 has been actively filming since March and is slated to wrap up in July. Several leaked images from the sets have confirmed exciting details about the next season, including the introduction of Dr. Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva) as the new Muse and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) in a new bearded look. Furthermore, Season 3 will also bring the Defenders into the fold, as Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) have been spotted filming alongside Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones). The show's third chapter will release in March 2027 on Disney+ and will likely decide the series' future.
'Daredevil: Born Again' has not been the ratings hit that Disney+ had hoped for. The show's first season recorded 7.5 million views in its first five days, lagging behind shows like 'Loki' Season 2 and 'Agatha All Along,' which received 10.9 million and 9.3 million views, respectively, in the same time frame. Furthermore, both seasons of the crime drama have failed to chart the Nielsen's Top 10 list. Notably, Season 2 has a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, an improvement from Season 1's 87%, but the viewership ratings have moved in the opposite direction. The series has failed to attract new audiences, despite its streamlined narrative and the introduction of fan-favorite guest stars, like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Ritter’s private investigator, Jones.
Episode 7 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 ended with the death of the deputy mayor, Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini), at the hands of his close friend Buck Cashman (Arty Froushan). The narrative is headed towards an epic showdown between Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) and Mayor Fisk in the finale, which is set to air on May 5 on Disney+.
