'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 release schedule reveals exciting changes amidst Punisher's inclusion
The gritty crime thriller 'Daredevil: Born Again' kicked off its second installment by setting the stage for Matt Murdock's resistance against the corrupt New York City Mayor, Wilson Fisk. Season 2 of the superhero vigilante series opened with a single episode on March 24, unlike Season 1's two-episode premiere in 2025. Another exciting update included the release date for 'The Punisher: One Last Kill.' The Marvel Special Presentation, which will see Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle / Punisher, is set to premiere a week after the Season 2 finale on May 12.

In 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2, Fisk tightens his grip over the city by tasking the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) to round up all the vigilantes. In response, Murdock plans to mount a powerful resistance by assembling his group of vigilantes. At the end of Episode 1, it seemed like Dex, aka Bullseye, was willing to team up with Murdock for the mission, but Punisher won't be part of the alliance.
Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays Fisk in the action series, explained that Bernthal is absent from this season as the actor was busy filming other projects. Immediately after the Season 2 premiere, he replied to a fan tweet questioning why Punisher wasn't seen in the episode. He said, "If John wasn't busy making his own hour long Punisher film and hangin with that insect (Spider-Man), we would have wanted him to join us in Season 2 for sure. Yet he had a wonderful opportunity to do the other projects and i for one can't wait to see him in those."
The Punisher's story ended with him escaping the AVTF's clutches in the post-credits scene of Season 1 of 'Daredevil: Born Again.' His story will continue in the Disney+ special, as he "tries to live a life without the need for revenge, only to be drawn into an unexpected conflict," per the official premise. MCU's third Disney+ Special Presentation, 'The Punisher: One Last Kill,' is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and co-written by Green and Bernthal. The special's inclusion in the release schedule suggests that Punisher plays an important role in the good vs. evil fight for New York's soul, with the special likely serving as an epilogue to the second season of 'Born Again.' Watch all the episodes of 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Disney+.
