'The Punisher: One Last Kill' is a unique and upcoming Marvel Television Special Presentation that runs up to one hour and boasts extremely gritty action sequences and fulfilling passages replete with cathartic undertones. In the recently released trailer of 'The Punisher: One Last Kill', Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle goes back to doing what he does best, i.e., being an indomitable one-man army hell-bent on seeking out his vengeance.

The upcoming television special premieres on Disney+ on May 12 and is the latest in a line of specials and standalone projects, including 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' and 'Werewolf by Night.' Bernthal himself has co-written the screenplay and executive-produced the film, in association with the director Reinaldo Marcus Green. The release date of the standalone television special has been timed perfectly, hitting the streaming platform just a week after the conclusion of the ongoing Season 2 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. The trailer begins by establishing The Punisher at arguably his lowest point, paranoid. He is haunted by the visions from his past, and cannot forget the trauma that rained down on him following the deaths of his wife and his daughter.

As the trailer progresses, one can instantly spot Frank reverting to his usual martial self, taking on numerous bad guys and wielding a plethora of big guns. In the final moments of the trailer, The Punisher is seen wearing his iconic white skull insignia and sheathing a sharp knife. He then shoots at the camera. The upcoming special feature can be expected to usher in a new era in the exploits of the gun-toting superhero. As is already known, The Punisher is set to appear in the upcoming movie 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', and the trailer for the same has hinted that his banter with Tom Holland's Peter Parker will be a key attraction.

In terms of its place in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe, it can be speculated that 'The Punisher: One Last Kill' will shed light on that period in The Punisher's life that falls between the events of 'Daredevil: Born Again' season two and 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'. Bernthal first appeared as Frank Castle in Season 2 of Netflix's original series 'Daredevil.' The show established Frank as the extremely violent frenemy of Murdock and, remaining true to the comic book source material, Frank's background stated that he is a former soldier who went haywire seeking revenge following the murders of his wife and daughter. Bernthal's Frank also had a supporting role in the debut season of 'Daredevil: Born Again', wherein he helped Murdock in his fight against the Kingpin.
