Chris Combs receives backlash for abusing Tammy Slaton
In the episode of '1000-lb Sisters', Tammy’s siblings discuss her desire to leave rehab. At the time, she was living in a rehab facility after weighing 700 pounds. Tammy suffered a health scare that required her to undergo a tracheotomy. However, her surgery procedure led to a bacterial infection for which she needed round-the-clock care. Concerning his sister's condition, Chris noted, "She still got the bacterial infection in a facility. So if she can get one there she can definitely get one at home." But Tammy didn't hang back about her desire to leave rehab. Chris got frustrated and said in a confessional, "The b**** has been blowing the phone up." He added, "Begging, ranting, raving, pleading for us to come to get her. Tammy’s being the most persistent person on coming home that I’ve ever seen her be on anything. If this b**** had acted this way on a diet, we would have never been here."
Chris' rude behavior toward Tammy received backlash from social media users. A user started a thread on Reddit writing, "Anyone else feel it was borderline abusive/sexist the way he kept calling her a b***h? He said it so many times, I lost count." Other users took to the comment section with one noting, "Even if they all call each other that I’m still uncomfortable with a man using the word." Another user added, "It was pretty excessive this week and pretty off-putting. They say it a lot but it definitely felt inappropriate for him to be saying things like 'the b***h might die on the table' or whatever else."
A user wrote, "I wish they would all kind of cool it with the b***h thing, too. Amy, Tammy, and Chris all say it entirely too much. It's not a good look, especially around kids." Another person commented, "I like them, but the constant use of that word for each other is so strange to me. I rarely use that word, and if I do, I have to be very, very angry with someone." Yet another user opined, "I think for them it’s normal i believe they grew up with someone who called the girls b*****s." Another user said, "Yes, but it s****s. Somebody should call him out on it."
Tammy Slaton begs her family to take her home
Tammy desperately wanted to go home. However, the family agree that they don’t have the resources to care for Tammy at home and ultimately decided she should stay in the facility. Meanwhile, when they revealed this to her Tammy, she doesn’t take it well. Chris raised the concern on the video call, "Nobody here is trained to take care of you 24 hours a day or is able to." However, Chris assured tammy that if she really wants to be closer to family, they can find a facility in Kentucky. Tammy didn't like his family's opinion and said, "I don’t give a s***." Tammy added, "I am not staying here. I’m not staying in another f***ing facility." Tammy further bashes her family, saying that she can care for herself and that she doesn’t want people 'up her a**.'
