'DWTS' Horror Night: Iman Shumpert bags perfect score with 'Us'-inspired performance

Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach left fans and the judges in shock and awe with their intense lifts and acting

For Iman Shumpert, his 'Dancing With The Stars' journey has not been smooth sailing. The NBA star has certainly been giving it his all each week, and even though it shows, he's had a tough time translating those improvements into good scores. And while the fans have had his back throughout this journey, it looks like Shumpert was now all set to take it up a notch.

For Horror Night, Shumpert and pro Daniella Karagach danced Contemporary to 'I Got 5 On It (Tethered Mix from US)' by Luniz ft Michael Marshall, inspired by the movie 'Us'. Shumpert revealed that he is a big horror movie fan and he and his family truly get into the spirit of the holiday. He also opened up about his partnership with Karagach.

Shumpert revealed that he has many coaches in his life, but none like Karagach. There was a sense of trust, honesty and openness with her. Even Karagach was all praises for Shumpert as a partner and hoped that to him, she was one of the best coaches he's had. She explained that to perform Contemporary, a dance form he was unfamiliar with, the partnership was key. This week, their trust truly took center stage as they ended their performance to an all-round standing ovation. 

Len Goodman was all praises for Karagach's astounding choreography. Bruno Tonioli noted that this performance was their masterpiece. Carrie Ann Inaba couldn't help but bow down to them, stating that they danced like amoeba and the whole performance was genius. Derek Hough also got up on the table to cheer for them, stating that he was speechless and this would go down as a performance that people would watch over and over.

The judges all scored Shumpert 10s, resulting in a score of 40 out of 40. Not only was this Shumpert's first 10s of the season, but he was also now at the top of the leaderboard with JoJo Siwa. Fans were thrilled to see him thrive. "Incredible partnering and support, Iman! #DWTS" tweeted a fan. "Me after watching Iman and Dani on #DWTS tonight! Okay Iman! Y’all DID THAT!" added another. "Omg!!! Iman did that! I thought that was awesome. I know it was a dance performance but the acting was on point too. Seemed like a scene from US! Good job! #DWTS #DWTS30" pointed out another. "I literally screamed "IMAN!!" And threw something (a balled up paper towel, I'm not crazy) at my TV... THAT WAS SO DOPE. I loved it. I didn't know I could like him even more than I already did" agreed a fan.

Their spectacular performance even converted a few others into instant fans, seeing that the two of them created something truly extraordinary on stage. "IMAN AND DANIELLA JUST MADE A FAN OUT OF ME. Seriously I was kind of irritated they weren’t in the bottom two last week but this week all my votes are going to them. I hope they keep getting better! #DWTS" tweeted a fan. "I was wrong to hate on Iman every week. He left me SPEECHLESS tonight no lie. #DWTS I’m so glad he stayed just for that dance alone." agreed another.

With judges' praise for Karagach, fans agreed that she was, in fact, the right coach for Shumpert, as she converted what was seen as their weakness (their height difference) into a strength. "Iman and Dani’s dance was INSANE. She does such an amazing job at catering to his strengths. Best pro on the show? #DWTS #DancingWiththeStars" tweeted a fan. "Choreography genius from Daniela. I can't believe she made THAT out of a contemporary with a foot-taller basketball player. And Iman deserves PRAISE for acting that out so well and doing all those tricks. Biggest surprise of the night by far #DWTS" added another. "Derek is right, Iman and Daniella's dance is definitely one of those performances that people go back to watch. This is what I've been waiting for tonigjt !!!! #dwts" agreed a fan.

One thing is for sure, all eyes are now on Shumpert and Karagach, to see how they manage to tp this phenomenal performance next week, during the 'DWTS' tribute night to the band, Queen.
