LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Death and Other Details', streaming on Hulu, veers into intriguing territory in Episode 8, as additional cruise ship murders baffle and instill fear among everyone on board.
On one hand, Imogene Scott (Violett Beane) uncovers Lawrence Collier (David Marshall Grant) as her mother Kira Scott's murderer, yet the ongoing mishaps suggest that a larger mystery is still awaiting resolution.
Celia Chun exposes Katherine Collier's secret in 'Death and Other Details'
Episode 8 brings a startling revelation about the Collier family. While mentioning that Anna Collier (Lauren Patten) won't be appointed as the CEO after the merger, Celia Chun (Lisa Lu) goes on to reveal that she isn't Lawrence Collier's biological daughter.
Despite efforts by her mother, Katherine Collier (Jayne Atkinson), to conceal the truth, Celia exposes that she learned this from Pastor Toby Briggs (Danny Johnson), who is presently engaged in an affair with Katherine.
As Tripp Collier questions if Toby is Anna's father, Katherine mentions that it doesn't matter anymore as he is dead now. Tripp gathers that Anna is the result of her mother's previous affair with their lawyer, Llewellyn Mathers (Jere Burns).
However, Katherine mentions that Llewellyn was unaware that Anna was his daughter.
Anna Collier is baffled upon learning about her reality
Anna is shattered after learning that her entire identity is a lie. Fueled by anger, she calls her mother a gold-digger, who counters that whatever she did was to keep the family together.
Despite uncovering the truth about her paternity, Anna maintains her affection for Lawrence and staunchly defends him against Imogene's accusations of Kira Scott's murder. She reveals Lawrence's battle with early-stage dementia and asserts that he is incapable of masterminding the ongoing cruise murders.
In the concluding scene of the episode, we see Anna screaming and crying as she finds her mother dead in a swimming pool on the deck.
While Anna's wife, Leila Collier (Pardis Saremi) believes that Katherine, disguised as Victor Sams, is the mastermind, her death introduces another level of mystery.
