LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hulu's murder mystery show 'Death and Other Details' revolves around Imogene Scott (Violett Beane) who joins hands with private detective Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin) to solve a murder case on a luxury cruise while her traumatic past catches up with her.
After building intrigue around the decades-old unsolved murder case of Imogene's mother Kira Scott, the mystery finally unravels in Episode 7.
Imogene Scott's mother was a whistleblower
Imogene takes a walk into her past and digs into her fainted memories to put together the pieces of the puzzle of her mother's case. As she takes the painful journey, she recalls the day of February 12, 2005, a mother before the murder.
Imogene remembers overhearing a heated exchange between her mother and Alexandra Hochenberg (Tamberla Perry).
Imogene discovers that her mother acted as a whistleblower, intending to unveil the illicit actions of Collier Mills by compiling a case supported by evidence and prepared to bring it to court.
However, Alexandra refused to take up the case by calling it silly.
What did the Collier family do?
Kira Scott uncovered that Collier Mills utilized Captionem Blue, a prohibited ultra-bright pigment known for its toxic nature, causing cancer and various life-threatening illnesses.
The usage of this harmful substance resulted in the deaths of five employees at Collier Mills, with several others falling ill. To keep the matter hushed, the Colliers compensated the families of the affected employees.
Upon discovering the sinister truth about the Collier family, Kira embarked on a mission to expose them. It can be inferred that the Colliers, becoming aware of her intentions, orchestrated her death by placing a bomb in her car.
It would now be interesting to see how Imogene will bring out the truth of the Collier family and deliver justice.
Seven episodes of 'Death and Other Details' are currently streaming on Hulu.
