LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Bridgerton' has carved a niche for itself when it comes to romantic period dramas. Netflix has already released two seasons of the show and a third season is currently in the works. While fans are excited about it, there is also some bad news for them.

Fans were heartbroken when news of Regé-Jean Page leaving Bridgerton after Season 1 was confirmed. He later explained that he quit because it felt "like a limited series" to him. However, there were rumors that he quit as he was not in favor of the plot planned for his character. It seems like the curse of lead characters either quitting or having no screentime is true, as this year, Phoebe Dynevor reportedly revealed that her character, Daphne Basset, will not return for 'Bridgerton' Season 3.

'Bridgerton' Season 2: 5 things to know about Netflix romantic period drama

Dynevor played one of the main characters in Season 1 of 'Bridgerton'. The plot followed Duke of Hastings Simon Basset (Page) and Daphne Bridgerton (Dynevor) and their long and tumultous romance. This set the tone for the upcoming seasons, that will follow each Bridgerton sibling and their journey towards finding true love. Daphne was a supporting character in Season 2, while dealing with Anthony's (Jonathan Bailey) search for a wife.

According to Screen Rant, when asked if there was anything exciting in store for Daphne, Dynevor disclosed that there was none, but she was hopeful that the audience would see more of Daphne in future seasons of the show. "Sadly not in season 3. Potentially in the future. But season 3, I'm just excited to watch as a viewer," she reportedly said.

This news is dissapointing, but not surprising. While her return as a key character is anticipated in future seasons, for now she will have to sit back and be a spectator of Season 3.

Meanwhile, Season 3's lead cast comprises Claudia Jessie (Eloise), Luke Thompson (Benedict) and Luke Newton (Colin). Season 3 will solely focus on Colin and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan). However, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is likely to have a larger role, given her friendship with Penelope.
