'American Idol' Season 22 fans slam Kayko for ditching original song for 'horrible' cover
SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22's Rock and Roll-themed night was all about taking risks and challenges and some of the performers failed to impress the viewers. 'Accidental' contestant Sam Kelly-Cohen aka Kayko has performed his original songs in the previous rounds of the ABC show.
However, the aspiring singer has also taken the risk to perform a cover song during the latest episode. Kayko performed 'High and Dry' by Radiohead. Lionel Richie noted, "You are so versatile. What else can you do? It's fabulous." Despite the judges' compliments, the viewers were left disappointed with Kayko's performance. A social media user commented, "I know Kayko shaking in his boots cause he can’t sing an original tonight."
Another person added, "I’m interested to see how Kayko performs this week since he can’t do an original song... but I also feel like he could be completely horrible but y’all gonna vote for him anyway." Another internet user praised, "Kayko picking radiohead is a bad idea. That wasn't good at all and that wasn't a song that could evoke enough emotion from the fans."
Another X user tweeted, "This performance was horrible and y’all better not come in my comments tryna defend it!! Kayko had pitch problems everywhere! I knew this week would expose him." Another viewer wrote, "Kayko never sung a cover before this week and now we know why! Lmao." Another critic noted, "It’s gone take a miracle for Kayko to go home but tonight should be that night… that performance wasn’t good at all."
