'American Idol' Season 22 fans fume as Jack Blocker fails to make it to final 2
KAPOLEI, HAWAII: On May 19, the final 3 performers from Season 22 of 'American Idol' each performed a pair of 'Finale Night' songs as fans voted live from coast to coast for their favorites. After millions of votes were cast, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that Jack Blocker had been eliminated in third place, leaving both Will Moseley and Abi Carter in contention for the prize, and fans were outraged.
The 25-year-old graphic designer from Dallas, TX, had a tough start on the reality TV program, receiving only one "yes" vote (from Luke Bryan) and two "no" votes (from Katy Perry and Lionel Richie) at his audition. But the crew members were so enthusiastic about Jack's abilities that they persuaded the judges to re-vote, and the rest is history.
On Reddit, fans asked, "how the fuck is jack 3rd? will is so BORING i don’t understand who is voting for him." Another person chimed in, "That was honestly a gut wrenching loss I was 99% sure Jack and Abi would make the final 2. How are people like Will (and Emmy lol) getting more votes than majority of contestants from this season?"
Fans disagreeing with his elimination took to X to express their disappointment, "Jack should've made it to Top 2 instead of Will." One fan could be seen turning off their tv as soon as Jack got eliminated, writing, "Me when Jack gets eliminated."

Who is 'American Idol' Season 22 finalist Jack Blocker?
Originally from Dallas, Jack is a musician and graphic designer who currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. He received a communications degree from the University of Arkansas in 2021.
Jack has been working as a freelance graphic designer in addition to his music career. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is "contracting freelance design projects for musicians, independent record labels, companies, and non-profit organizations."
"Work includes logo design and brand identity for corporate clients as well as illustration and graphic work for creative clients."
Jack was a member of the band Rightfield before his 'American Idol' audition; however, the band reportedly broke up after Jack's triumph on the show. From 2018 to 2024, according to an Instagram post, they were operational.

Jack is wed to Georgia Autrey, his high school love. They currently reside together in Nashville, having first met at Trinity Christian Academy in Texas.

Jack has stated that he dislikes categorizing himself into a single genre. In an interview with Parade, he said he saw himself as a singer and a songwriter.
Additionally, he said that going into the audition, he had "zero expectation" of winning 'American Idol'.
Following his elimination, Jack took to social media to share his thoughts as he wrote, "Man what a blessing to kick it on #IDOL with so many heroes new and old. Cannot wait to keep making music for you as long as the good Lord allows it!! THANK YOU x10000000."
