'American Idol': Derek Hough roped in as guest mentor, fans ask 'is he even a singer?'
ABC's hit singing competition show 'American Idol' has over the years earned the reputation of churning out some very popular stars like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, etc. While the judges play an important role in deciding which of the contestants gets to stay in the competition and who leaves, the guest mentors too play a very important role. The guest mentors help the contestants in fine-tuning their vocals and stage presence, with their creative inputs and feedback.
So needless to say, it's pretty important that the right guest mentors are roped in to help the contestants. For season 20, the ABC show roped in celebrity choreographer Derek Hough as a guest mentor for the top 10 contestants. Fans were left feeling confused wondering why Derek was mentoring a singing competition show and took to Twitter to express the same.
