'American Idol' fans slammed the 'country music voters' for 'celebrating mediocrity' by casting their vote for Dan Marshall

Tensions were running high on the latest episode of 'American Idol' Season 20 as the show's host Ryan Seacrest began announcing the list of contestants who the audience voted for to be on the top 14 list. In a surprise turn of events that nobody saw coming, Dan Marshall was announced as one of the lucky contestants to secure enough votes from the audience to proceed to the next round.

While Dan and the judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, were pleased with the results, unfortunately, the fans didn't share the same reaction. Several fans took to Twitter to slam the 'country music voters' for 'celebrating mediocrity' by casting their vote for Dan, while many other talented performers were put in the danger zone.

A fan tweeted, "Bruh… I like Dan but no way he should’ve made it straight through. The country voters are out in full force once again this season #AmericanIdol." "Country music fans never fail to celebrate mediocrity. Send Dan home, none of you would buy his album or stream his songs. #AmericanIdol," wrote a fan. "Why do all country people get through on american idol regardless if they’re good or not… dan had the worst performance last night #AmericanIdol," commented a fan.

Some fans pointed out how Dan shouldn't have made it this far in the singing competition in the first place owing to his 'basic' vocals. A fan shared, "How Dan is on top 10? He is so basic… OMG we have a lot of better voices there #AmericanIdol." "I'm sorry but Dan Marshall did not deserve a spot in the top 10 over some of the ppl in the 'Danger Zone' #AmericanIdol," pointed out a fan. "Dan shouldn't make it to the top 14 he was terrible #AmericanIdol," expressed a fan. "Dan Marshall best be writing hand written thank you notes to everyone who voted for him right now… #AmericanIdol," joked a fan.

The other contestants who managed to amass enough votes from the audience included Ava Maybee, Christian Guardino, HunterGirl, etc. While platinum ticket holder Jay Copeland, Cadence Baker, Katyrah Love, Jacob Moran, etc were put in the danger zone.

'American Idol' Season 20 airs every Sunday and Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
