'American Idol' fans say Dan Marshall's singing is 'boring and bad', yet he is in the Top 24

After fighting tooth and nail, 24 contestants managed to make it to the coveted 'Top 24' list on 'American Idol' Season 20. Needless to say, the competition amongst the participants is cut-throat, with all of them stepping out of their comfort zone to continue their stint on the ABC show. While each of the performers did their best to wow the judges and the audience, fans were however unimpressed with Dan Marshall's performance.

For his top 24 performance, Marshall picked Bryan Adams' 'Heaven'. After being forced to leave his guitar behind, Marshall began feeling a bit nervous and awkward while performing on-stage solo without his guitar. Though the judges sensed his nervousness, they were however pleased with his overall performance and encouraged him to lose his nerves and enjoy his performances. Fans, on the other hand, dubbed his performance as not only 'boring' but also began questioning how he managed to earn a spot on the top 24 list.

Several fans took to Twitter to slam Marshall's performance. A fan tweeted, "Dan it was just alright nothing special I think he could be going home just wasn't a very good performance #AmericanIdol #Idol #IdolTop24." "Dan Marshall just put me to sleep. That was boring and bad. #AmericanIdol," wrote a fan. "Dan performance put me to sleep ...went on way too long #americanidol," seconded a fan. 

Many fans also questioned how he made it to the top 24 performers list. A fan shared, "Now...how...did this Dan guy get into top 24. He's not a bad singer...he's just very...VERY bland. Compared to the other country singer, Mike, Dan is mad subpar. Had me . But knowing America, they'll vote for him to keep going forward #AmericanIdol." "This guy has be Luke’s family or something. No way he could make it this far. He didn’t even sing it to his girl sadly," commented a fan on the show's YouTube clip of his performance. "This is so generic. How did this guy make it through again?," wondered a fan. "Dan Marshall should not have been in the top 24 #AmericanIdol," declared a fan.

'American Idol' Season 20 airs every Sunday and Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
