The new NBC sitcom premiere episode of 'Young Rock' titled 'Working the Gimmick' takes us into the future in the year 2032 when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is running for president. From there, we are taken back to his family days as a young child, the wrestling icons he was around growing up, his "rebellious" years as a teenager and his life as an NCAA football player at the University of Miami. "This is how the boy became the man," reads the premiere episode's synopsis.
While we all know enough of the life of the megastar by now, the sitcom gives us a fresh and hilarious perspective on how the former wrestler became who he is today. The second episode, however, seems to bring forward the comedy perspective to the forefront as we're set in the year 1987 in Pennsylvania where a date doesn't go as planned. When will 'Young Rock' Season 1 Episode 2 air?
The second episode of the comedy series titled 'On The Road Again' will air on Tuesday, February 23, at 8 pm EST on NBC. If you'd like to stream the show live, you can watch it on Hulu or YouTube TV. New episodes of the sitcom will be available on Peacock eight days after it airs on the NBC network. If you miss the episode on February 23, it will be re-broadcasted on February 27 at 8 pm EST.
What is 'On The Road Again' about?
The official synopsis of the episode reads, "Pennsylvania, 1987: Dwayne pretends he’s rich to impress popular girl Karen, but a date to Rocky’s wrestling match at the flea market risks exposing the truth. Stressed about money, Ata takes on a wealthy new client."
In 'Young Rock', Stacey Leilua plays the role of Ata Johnson, Dwayne's mother, who grew up in a first-generation pro wrestling family. She is described as a "strong woman, both by nature and necessity" and "a hopeful positive force in young Dwayne's life."
