'Young Rock' Full Cast List: Meet Joseph Lee Anderson, Bradley Constant and rest of the actors from NBC's Dwayne Johnson sitcom
The new NBC sitcom, 'Young Rock' is set to premiere this month, and brings to Dwayne Johnson's the different chapters of the actor's life. According to a press release, "From growing up in a strong and resilient family, to being surrounded by the wild characters of his professional wrestling family, to playing football at the University of Miami, the show will explore the crazy rollercoaster that has shaped Dwayne into the man he is today and the larger-than-life characters he's met along the way." Many of course, are anticipating not only the story but also the actors that will play Johnson is different times of his life, at different ages. Dwayne Johnson aka 'The Rock' as himself
Johnson most popular as The Rock is the son of Ata Johnson and professional wrestler Rocky Johnson. The actor played football in high school and ended up with a full scholarship from the University of Miami to play the sport, however, a 1995 back injury resulted in Johnson not making it to the NFL. Later, he had moved to engage in a career in wrestling making his debut at USWA with the stage name Flex Kavanah winning the tag team championship with Brett Sawyer. It was in the year 1996 that Johnson joined the WWE, with the stage name Rock Maivia along with the group The Nation of Domination. Johnson eventually also joined the Corporation after his previous group split up. He later kicked off the Corporation, and debuted in his first move in 2001 titled 'The Mummy Returns' (2001).
As for his acting career, he's made quite a name for himself. Recently, Johnson has been known for his role as Spencer in '2017' (2017) and 'Jumanji: The Next Level' (2019). He also played the voice of Maui in 'Moana, and yes, of course, the 'Fast & Furious' franchise where he's known as Hobbs. As of now, the actor has two releases – 'Jungle Cruise' and 'Red Notice' in post-production, and two releases – 'The King' and 'Black Adam' in pre-production.
The Rock has won two People's Choice Award, in 2016 and 2017 for Favorite Premium Series Actor - he has been nominated for four more. He has also won the Entertainer of the Year Award in 2017.
Adrian Groulx as Dwayne Johnson (AKA Dewey) at age 10
Groulx works include 'Kids' CBC' (2003), the TV movie 'The Christmas Cure' (2017), the TV series 'The Adventures of Napkin Man!' (2017), and 'Mighty Express' (2020). In 'Young Rock', Groulx plays Dwayne Johnson (AKA Dewey) at age 10 and is described as "honest, headstrong, impressionable and bold."
Joseph Lee Anderson as Rocky Johnson
Anderson is known for his works in 'The Jog' (2019), as Robert Ross in 'Harriet' (2019) and Tony Larmen in 'S.W.A.T' (2018). His recent works include the TV series 'American Soul' (2019), 'NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service' (2019), 'The Square Root' (2019), 'The 24th' (2020), 'Under My Skin' (2020) and 'Alt' (2020). He has an announced release titled 'Birdie's Eye View'. The actor is also a director and writer for the 'The Jog'. Anderson was nominated for a SXSW Grand Jury Award for Narrative Short for 'The Jog' and won a Festival Prize that same year at the Kansas City FilmFest for Best Heartland Narrative Short for the same production - he shared this award with Kyle Kelley. In 'Young Rock', Anderson plays the role of Rocky Johnson, Dwayne's father, who is a "Charismatic and charming ro wrestling champion" who "juggles the ups and downs of his career with being a well-intentioned, but unorthodox, husband and father."
Bradley Constant as Dwayne Johnson, at the age of 15
Constant is known for his few works such as 'Famous Nobody' (2013), 'Under Armour' (2014), 'Small Black - Boys Life' (2015), and 'Following Phil' (2018). According to the actor's IMDb page, the actor was raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and started pursuing acting at the age of 12 along with taking classes. While he moved to the Big Apple after convincing his mother to allow him to study there, he is now based in Los Angeles. Besides acting, the actor loves to run marathons, bass fishing, and golfing as well. In 'Young Rock', Constant plays Dwayne Johnson, at age 15 - the press release describes this part of Johnson's life as such - "Doing his best to fit in as a normal teenager but puberty has other ideas. His size and full mustache have his classmates convinced he's an undercover cop."
Uli Latukefu as Dwayne Johnson, between the ages of 18 and 20
Latukefu is known for his role as Byamba in 'Marco Polo' (2014-2016) and Cole in 'Alien: Covenant' (2017). His most recent works include the TV series 'Harrow' (2018), 'Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan' (2019), 'Doctor Doctor' (2017-2019), 'The End' (2020), and 'The Legend of Baron To'a' (2020). He has a release titled 'June Again' in post-production. The actor's IMDb page reveals that he has been married to his wife Pamela Saviet since November 2014 and the couple share one child together. In 'Young Rock', Latukefu plays the role of Dwayne Johnson, at age 18-20 and the network's press release describes this part of Johnson's life as such - "Has just been recruited to play football on a full scholarship at powerhouse University of Miami. Though a superstar talent, a devastating injury his freshman year puts his life at a crossroads."
Stacey Leilua as Ata Johnson
Leilua has a limited amount of acting work in the industry - she played the role of Ruth in 'To'ona'i' (2010), a role in 'Love Birds' (2011), and Sina in 'Tatau' (2012). She is also the producer of the web series 'The Factory' (2013). According to the actress's IMDb page, she is of Samoan, Maori, and English and is based in New Zealand. The actress majored in Acting at one of New Zealand's leading Drama schools named the Unitec School of Performing & Screen Arts. She also worked on a local production titled, 'Shortland Sweet', which according to reports is the country's longest-running TV series. The page also reveals that the actress had also participated in Tusiata Avia's Wild Dogs Under My Skirt as part of the ensemble cast - it on Production of the Year in 2018 at the Wellington Theatre Awards. In 'Young Rock', Leilua plays the role of Ata Johnson, Dwayne's mother, who grew up in a first-generation pro wrestling family. She is described as a "strong woman, both by nature and necessity" and "a hopeful positive force in young Dwayne's life."
Ana Tuisila as Lia Maivia
Tuisila is known for her role as Mrs Tusitala in 'Outrageous Fortune' (2005-2009), Albert's Mum in 'Sione's Wedding' (2006) and Nua in 'Liliu' (2019). Her other works include the TV series 'A Night at the Classic' (2010) and 'Harry' (2013). The actress will be playing Lia Maivia, Ata's mother and Dwayne's grandmother, who according to the press release reveals was the first female pro-wrestling promoter in the country describing her as a "sweet loving grandmother and when need be" and a "cutthroat, ruthless businesswoman."
The rest of the cast sees Lexie Duncan as Karen, Stephen Adams as Kevin, Brett Azar as Iron Sheik, Robert Crayton as Warren Sapp, Taj Cross as Gabe, and many more.
