Youku announces NCT and WayV's Ten as the leader of dance show, 'Great Dance Crew'
After he rocked the world, especially NCTzens with his solo single, ‘Paint Me Naked’, NCT’s Ten who is also part of subunits like NCT U, WayV as well as the SM Entertainment supergroup SuperM will be participating in a dance variety show. On April 7, Youku, the Chinese platform announced that Ten was going to be part of an upcoming dance variety show called the ‘Great Dance Crew’. The show has been jointly initiated by the platform Youku as well as the Hip-Hop Committee of China’s Dancer Association.
The variety program ‘Great Dance Crew’ will be officially collaborating with the World Hip Hop Dance Championship which is an international hip-hop dance competition created in 2002 by Hip Hop International (HHI). It has been revealed that Ten of NCT will participate as the leader of one of the four dance crews. Back in 2021, Ten was seen as a special guest on Youku’s ‘Street Dance of China’ which had GOT7’s Jackson Wang as one of the mentors on the show. With his appearance on SDC, Ten’s solo performance had caught the buzz internationally.

NCT’s Ten joins Youku’s ‘Great Dance Crew’
‘Great Dance Crew’ is going to be the first project where NCT and WayV fame Ten will be seen as the leader of a dance crew. It was reported that Ten had arrived in China back in the second half of 2021 and had been participating in a lot more solo activities. In their official tweet announcing the NCT’s Ten as one of the four ‘managers’ on the show, Youku stated, “He is a refreshing senior of the dance crew and a soul dancer who always dominates the stage! GDC is open. Let's welcome Ten to join us!”
Other than Ten, ‘Great Dance Crew’ will also have other popular K-pop and C-pop idols including former Miss A member Wang Feifei as well as Starship Entertainment’s WJSN aka Cosmic Girls’ Cheng Xiao and Chinese-Japanese pop group INTO1’s Santa. What is Great Dance Crew?
The show is a dance variety program featuring NCT and WayV’s Ten, MissA’s Feifei Wang, WJSN’s Cheng Xiao, and Santa of INTO1. Taiwanese actor, Alec Su is said to be the President of the show. The show will have these artists establishing their own ‘women's dance crew’ where dancers from all walks of life will be seen. From China's street dance professionals to undiscovered female street dancers, all are eligible fits for the show.
Through rounds of competition, the strongest street dance crew will be chosen eventually and will take part in a World-class street dance crew competition, creating professional and publicly regarded performance works, showcasing the positive influence that dance has on the younger generation.
