'You' Season 4 Episode 7: Is Marienne still ALIVE? Joe STUNNED after Rhys threatens him with hurting someone he loved

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Things are getting more intense for Joe (Penn Badgley) as the season progresses and he is now given the task of killing Tom Lockwood. Killing him won’t be easy because he is one of the wealthiest people in the UK and also happens to be Kate’s father. He has genuinely fallen in love with Kate and doesn’t want to hurt her. But, if he has to save himself, he needs to do this or else everything will be destroyed. In Episode 7 of ‘You’ Season 4, he meets Kate who tells her that she will be out of London for a day because her dad is coming. Joe believes that it is the perfect time to start working on what Rhys has told him to do.
So, he tells Kate that he would love to meet but Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) felt a bit nervous because her father is not a nice man and has done a lot of terrible things. She believes that her father might do something bad to Joe. He makes her understand that she could use the “fake boyfriend” scenario and take him there. Kate nods and they finally go to meet Tom Lockwood. As soon as the meeting starts, Joe gets to know what kind of manipulative guy he is. He introduces Katherine, aka Kate, with the rough sculpture of the Lockwood Museum that would be run by Katherine herself in New York City. Kate knew that something is going on here and goes to the washroom to think about it.

Does Kate's father know about Love Quinn?
As soon as she goes, Tom asks Joe about his dead wife Love Quinn, to which, he replies that his ex-wife was “deeply troubled” and his greatest regret is that he couldn’t help her. Tom didn’t shy away from asking if he killed her and Joe started to look a bit defensive in his answers. Joe makes him understand that he had some bad luck in his life at one point, but all he wants now is a quiet, academic life. Tom looked impressed, but also made it clear that Joe would see the real Tom Lockwood if he hurt Kate. In the concluding moments of their conversation, Tom asks Joe about Rhys Montrose and lets him know that he is being a pain in the a**. So, he tells Joe that if he provides solid information about Rhys, he will make everything better for him. Joe thinks of playing a double game here and helping Tom Lockwood in pinning down Rhys so that he and Kate can stay safe.
As soon as Joe reaches home, he texts Rhys that he knows why he (Rhys) wants Tom dead. But he wanted a taped confession, so he sets up a camera and switches on the audio recorder of her phone while putting the phone in his pocket. Rhys reaches Joe’s apartment and wants to know what Tom knows about him. Everything is happening because of a book that Rhys is coming in which he has written something that might damage Tom’s reputation. Joe tries to get Rhys to a point where he can get a confession but he realizes that Joe was trying to play with him and shows him a passport that changes everything.
The passport he shows is of Marienne. Yes, Marienne is ALIVE and is still in London. He has been taken hostage by Rhys and if Joe doesn’t do what he is told, she will never be able to meet her daughter.
So now, Joe definitely needs to kill Tom and he makes a plan. He meets Tom on his private property and gifts him a rare book notated by Winston Churchill himself. However, he gets to know why he is here and calls him “son”. He wants Joe to tell him everything about Rhys and also makes it clear that he knows that Joe killed Love. Tom tells Joe that he can help him if he kills Rhys. He is hiding at his ex’s and is unprotected.
Is Rhys dead?
Joe finally finds Rhys at his ex’s and tortures him before killing him in the barn. But before he killed him, Rhys said that he doesn’t know what Joe was talking about and don’t even know who Marienne is. Meanwhile, Nadia, who is having doubts about Jonathan, enters his house and finds a key to a secret hideout. Joe has finally killed Rhys, but to his horror, a man looking like Rhys just walks inside the barn in a suit and stuns Joe. Joe believes he is having hallucinations, but it turns out, Rhys is still there.
The episode ends with Nadia finding Joe’s secret hideout and finding a glass cage. But is there anyone in it? Yes. Who? Well, it’s MARIENNE.
What is happening with Joe? Is he hallucinating everything or is this part of a bigger game? Well, prepare to be stumped by what lies ahead.
