'YOU' Season 4: Meet the new characters from Netflix's psychological thriller series
LOS ANGELES., CALIFORNIA: If there’s one show that has managed to create a massive impact on people’s minds, it’s surely ‘YOU’. Since 2018, the Netflix series has been telling Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) story in the most riveting fashion and it continues to get better with each passing season. The third season found Joe in a peculiar position because he knew that he can’t take risk of leaving his child closer to Love because of her sociopathic behavior. During the ending moments of the previous edition, we saw a fight between Joe and Love in which Joe emerged as the winner. Joe set the house on fire and vanished.
In one of the most heartbreaking moments, Joe realizes that despite finally forming a meaningful connection with Henry, it’s in his son’s best interest to abandon his child. He decides to leave his child with Dante, his co-worker at the library.

However, the times have changed and now Joe is in London. He is now known as Jonathan Moore and teaches English Literature at a university. As time passes, he gets to meet a group of friends who are filthy rich and don’t have a conscience. So, who are these new characters in Joe’s universe? Let’s take a look.
Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie)
Kate Galvin is the girlfriend of Professor Malcolm Harding and has worked hard to achieve what she wants. But she is really secretive and doesn’t give out much on social media. She uses social media only to share her artwork. She loves art and is the daughter of the ‘90s supermodel Great Galvin. Kate is focused, ambitious, and has a positive work ethic.
However, there’s something dark about her past that no one knows and she wants to keep it that way. Joe takes a special interest in her and once again has started to know more about her in his peculiar ways.
Kate Galvin is played Charlotte Ritchie in the series and is known for her roles in shows such as ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘Ghosts’, and ‘Feel Good’.
Lady Phoebe (Tilly Keeper)
Probably, one of the most interesting new characters in the show comes in the form of Lady Phoebe Borehall-Boxworth. She is rich, famous, and not new to controversies. She has more than 6 million followers on Instagram and is toxically aristocratic. Lady Phoebe has been linked with two captains of leading Premier League teams. She is like Kylie Jenner because everything that she does, from uploading a bikini picture to getting herself waxed, is covered by the tabloids.
However, she always gives the impression of being kind and sweet.
Lady Phoebe is being played by Tilly Keeper, an English actress who got a lot of recognition after playing the role of Louise Mitchell in the blockbuster hit series ‘EastEnders’. She was nominated in the Best Newcomer category at the National Television Awards.
Malcolm Harding (Stephen Hagan)
Harding works as a Professor at the same university where Joe works and he helped Joe in getting the new flat. Malcolm lives right across the window with his girlfriend Kate Galvin. So, it doesn’t come as a shock that he looks inside their house. Malcolm comes from a family of affluent people and his father was the 7th Viscount of Walford. A viscount is a British nobleman ranking above a baron and below an earl. Despite coming from such a royal family, Malcolm likes being an academic because it gives him a lot of respect.
However, rumor has it that not a lot of people like him, and he is in debt. He is the one who introduces Joe to the elites of the elites and brings him inside his group.
Stephen Hagan plays the role of Malcolm Harding. The actor is known for titles such as ‘Against the Dark’, ‘Clapham Junction’, ‘Mistresses’, ‘Injustice’, ‘Risen’, and ‘A Royal Christmas’.
Adam Pratt (Lukas Gage)
Adam Pratt, owner of the Sundry House, and the only American in a group of Brits. Well, no point in guessing that everything that Pratt has achieved is because of his father and the money he has given him. He has no understanding of real work. He is Phoebe’s boyfriend and both of them are now ready to take their relationship to another level. He looks sweet, but is just like his counterparts and despises the people who are not rich.
American actor Lukas Gage plays Adam in Season 4 of ‘YOU’ and has worked in some of the biggest shows such as ‘American Vandal’, ‘On My Block’, ‘Supergirl’, ‘Euphoria’, ‘Love, Victor’, ‘The White Lotus’, ‘Angelyne’, and ‘Gossip Girl’.
Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman)
Nadia is one of Joe’s students at the university and doesn’t shy away from putting her points forward in the strongest way possible. She loves reading whodunits and has a lot of interest in crime thrillers. She wants to write a book and is currently working on it. She has a good relationship with Joe and helps him in getting to know how he should be writing a crime novel.
English actress Amy-Leigh Hickman portrays the character of Nadia in the show and has worked in several high-end projects like ‘EastEnders’, ‘Ackley Bridge’, ‘Our Girl’, ‘Aladdin’, and ‘Sleeping Beauty’. The actress won the Best Actor accolade for ‘Ackley Bridge’ at the RTS Yorkshire Awards.
Rhys Montrose (Ed Speelers)
The only person in the group who doesn’t like to be in the middle of these rich people, but has to because he needs their support to become the Mayor of London. Rhys is quite popular in the working class of London and people want him to run for the position of Mayor. He has written a book about his life which indicates that he had a troubled childhood and came out of poverty to achieve everything. He was a mess, but then he found out that he was the son of a duke and went to Oxford.
Rhys Montrose will be portrayed by Ed Speelers who made his feature film debut with the 2006 movie ‘Eragon’, for which he was nominated in the Best Young Actor category at the Saturn Awards. In 2012, he made an appearance in the blockbuster hit show ‘Downtown Abbey’ and was nominated at the SAG Awards in the Best Ensemble category for three years in a row (2014, 2015, and 2016).
Sophie Soo (Niccy Lin)
Sophie Soo is playing the role of a social media influencer who is the daughter of a billionaire father. Every item on her body, from her dress to the earrings, has come out of a sponsorship deal. She went to Oxford, then Harvard Law, but while studying there she found out that making a career out of likes and follows requires a lot less studying. She has 17.1 million followers on Instagram.
Niccy Lin plays the role of Sophie Soo in ‘You’ Season 4. She started her career with short films in 2017. Lin made her feature film debut with the 2019 movie ‘The Official Secrets’ alongside Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, and more. She recently played the role of Megan in the 2022 movie ‘Murder Ballads: How to Make it in Rock ‘n’ Roll’.
Other new characters to feature in Season 4 include Blessing (Ozioma Whenu), Simon Soo (Aidan Cheng), Roald (Ben Wiggins), Gemma (Eve Austin), Connie (Dario Coates), and Vic (Sean Pertwee).
'YOU' Season 4 Part 1 premieres exclusively on Thursday, February 9.
