After becoming one of the most recognizable faces on ‘Love on the Spectrum’, Connor Tomlinson is stepping away. The 27-year-old fan favorite, who appeared across multiple seasons, has confirmed that he will not return for the show’s upcoming fifth installment. Tomlinson shared the update in a conversation with Variety on April 3, just days after the latest season dropped. He made it clear that his decision was not sudden or forced. In fact, he sounded pretty at peace with it. “I’ve chosen to pass the torch to the next person who can make it as big as me,” he said.

Tomlinson also took a moment to acknowledge the people behind the scenes who helped shape his journey, saying, “I want to sincerely thank Cian, Sean [Bowman, casting producer], and the entire crew for changing my life over the past three years.” His presence has been a constant throughout Seasons 2, 3, and 4. Viewers watched him open up, try new experiences, and, at times, stumble through the unpredictable world of dating. So, why step away now? Tomlinson did not point to any behind-the-scenes drama or creative differences. Instead, he revealed, “Don’t worry about me — I’m still going to be in the acting business, especially voice work. I’ve always been a huge fan of animation and would love to be involved with a TV show.”

Moreover, during a recent conversation with PEOPLE, Tomlinson spoke openly about his ambitions in the entertainment industry. He shared that he aims to “get a platform, be an inspiration to others, and, well, personally, I'm actually hoping to get into show business myself. Voice acting, in particular.” He even joked about his current standing, saying, “Make myself up the tiers to an A-list celebrity, be one of the greats,” before adding with a laugh that he’s “maybe C+ at most” at the moment. For the unversed, in Season 4, viewers followed his relationship with Georgie as it reached a turning point. During a trip to London, Tomlinson began questioning whether they were truly compatible. He admitted that her sarcastic sense of humor “feels pretty mean sometimes.”

Not long after, he revealed that the relationship had ended off-camera. The news came in the finale episode during Madison and Tyler’s engagement party. Interestingly, confirmation of Tomlinson's exit arrived the same day Netflix confirmed that the series would be returning for another season. According to the streamer, Season 5 will follow “a group of neurodivergent daters as they navigate the confusing world of relationships. By learning the inexplicable rules of dating (rule No. 1: don’t say ‘I love you’ on the first date) and embracing the many intricacies of communication styles and sensory sensitivities, the romantic hopefuls offer an unfiltered look at life and love on the spectrum.” Meanwhile, an official premiere date for the upcoming season has yet to be confirmed.
