NEW JERSEY, USA: During the February 28 episode of 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey', Melissa Gorga became emotional while visiting her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice's housewarming celebration without her husband Joe Gorga. Fans, on the other hand, were quick to denounce the Gorgas for acting like victims since they believe Joe is to be blamed.

During the February 28 episode of 'RHONJ', Teresa and Luis Ruelas' "chosen family" met to honor their housewarming, but not everyone was feeling the love. Teresa phoned her brother to "make peace" after last week's guys' night, during which Joe and Luis argued about Melissa's family not being invited to the wedding. She also reminded him about her impending celebration. She merely inquired about Joe and Melissa's attendance, but Joe said he'd have to think about it given what was going on between them. This is where fans hold Joe accountable for whatever happened next.

Melissa breaks down as Teresa celebrates with 'chosen family'

Teresa heaved a sigh of relief after hanging up the phone because, truthfully, she didn't seem to want to make the call. Luis forced her and then told her what to say by writing notes on a piece of paper and pushing it in front of her while she was on the call with Joe. He informed her that it's all about "baby steps". When it came down to it, Joe chose not to attend the party because he didn't want to be awkward and didn't think Teresa wanted him there. He stated that he is "tired" of playing games and that he cannot "fake" his emotions as she can. Melissa, on the other hand, went to the party.

Teresa informed her daughters that she was disappointed that her brother would be missing yet another one of her "milestones" after he had previously declined to attend her 50th birthday celebration. She stated that she "would have loved" for him to come, but accepted no responsibility for being the reason he did not. Teresa also dragged Gia and Milania back into the chaos by informing them that Joe and Melissa were unhappy as Melissa's family was not invited to the wedding.

Luis and Teresa stepped up in front of their loved one to make a statement after everyone had gathered at the party and Melissa had a polite discussion with Gia and Gabriella. Luis first praised everyone for being so "loving and supportive", before Teresa broke him off and pointed out that everyone in his presence was their "chosen family". "Everyone here is really special to us, so thank you so much for coming. We love you from the bottom of our hearts, and wouldn’t want anyone else here but you guys," she said.

Everyone understood it was a dig at her brother, which is why Jennifer Aydin's husband Bill shouted back, "We miss you, Joe!" But no one else knew what to do. Melissa was upset by everything. So much so that she burst into tears and dashed to the restroom to compose herself.

"That was a d**k thing to say," Margaret Josephs told Melissa, adding, "What the f**k was that for?"

"It’s very sad," Melissa said, while Teresa spent the rest of the night bragging about her "love bubble" and how the night was all about "spreading the love".

'If Joe wasn’t there that’s on him not Teresa'

Fans are confused at Melissa's reaction as one wrote on Twitter, "Hold on...Teresa invited Joe and Melissa to housewarming. Yet, Melissa and Marge get upset at Tre for saying the attendees are her "chosen family", when Joe's the one who decided not to go???! What kind of stupidity?"

Recounting all the other similar incidents, a fan wrote, "Joe didn’t go to Teresa’s birthday dinner. didn’t go to the birthday trip. Didn’t go to the housewarming. Then didn’t go to the wedding. And they STILL blame Teresa and Louie for everything and “breaking up the family”. The only one to blame is Joe (and Melissa)."

Another fan added, "Joe and Melissa complain about not being included in Tre's life but then don't go to her housewarming party. They constantly beg for a greater space in her life then deny every effort she makes. I don't get it."

Another person added, "Context is so important. Obviously if Joe and Melissa were invited then Teresa considers them “Chosen Family” what was rude about it. Joe chose not to go."

Understanding Teresa's POV, a fan tweeted, "I COMPLETELY understand why Teresa will never speak to Melissa and Joe again. WTF was this? What is wrong with chosen family? Her only brother is not there by choice. They want Teresa to remain a lonely person with no friends and only their version of “family”."

Another fan added, "Teresa said my chosen family, Melissa was there so that implies that Melissa and her husband who was invited is chosen. Melissa is crying bc she understands that her and Joe aren’t needed for Teresa to move forward with her life."

Angry to see Melissa play the victim, a fan wrote, "The fact that teresa called joe trying to get him to come to her party and melissa still tries to make him the victim????"

Further blaming Joe for the situation, a viewer tweeted, "Melissa is on a roll. First the engagement. Then the bridal party. Then the birthday. Then the wedding invites. And now the housewarming. Margaret always throwing fuel to the fire. And if Joe wasn’t there that’s on him not Teresa."
