'That’s on his mom': Fans slam Geno's mother as 'My 600-Lb Life' star reveals he weighed 100lbs at age 6
NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT: The Season 11 premiere of 'My 600-Lb Life' aired on Wednesday night, and viewers got to see Geno Dacunto's journey. Even though fans got to be a part of a success story, many weren't delighted with how Geno's mother, Rhonda, contributed to his demise.
For Season 11, Episode 1 of the TLC series 'My 600-lb Life,' cousins Geno and Nico Martone appeared. Viewers were taken aback as they witnessed the cousins make the stunning choice to pick up their lives and stake everything on making a semi-permanent transfer to Texas. Geno and Nico, who are from Connecticut, decided to buy a house in Texas. The trio bought a house and moved roughly seven months into their trip with Dr Younan Nowzaradan, with Nico's girlfriend Rose accompanying them. When the episode ended, Nico and Geno had thoroughly embraced the Texan way of life. In fact, the cousins agreed that it felt as though Texas was always supposed to be their destination. Geno acknowledges that he believes staying in Texas will make it simpler for them to sustain their weight reduction efforts.

Why did Dr Now fault Geno's mother for his condition?
Fans are also introduced to his mother, Rhonda, in this episode. Geno and Rhonda live together, and Dr Now thinks her to be an enabler since she ignores his problems. Rhonda tells the camera that it hurts her to see her kid struggle to stand and that she can't handle listening to his breathing difficulties.
Rhonda informs viewers that Geno's family is Italian. As a result, they communicate with food and are never hungry. She added that starving her son of food was simply not something she could do because of her Italian origins. Furthermore, she feels he was genetically predisposed to fat because it runs in his family. She told Dr Now that she underwent weight loss surgery when she was 36 years old. Geno's uncle got weight loss surgery around a decade before they appeared on the show. Unfortunately, Geno describes a tough incident in which he blew out his knee while working. He couldn't fit into any of the area's MRI equipment due to his girth. So he couldn't get his knee fixed and return to work.
Geno and his cousin Nico both agree that Geno's eating habits spiraled out of hand when his father died.
Fans slam Geno's mother, call her 'toxic for him'
Those who saw Geno and Nico's entire episode know that Geno did lose weight during his entire trip with Dr Now. Eight months into his quest, he also had weight loss surgery. It was, however, a sluggish start because they had to relocate to Texas first. Geno's weight dropped from 684 pounds to 422 pounds in a year. So, in all, he shed 263 pounds while working with Dr Now for a year.
But fans didn't fail to call out Geno's mother in the process. One person tweeted, "Geno and his mother are not the dynamic duo i was hoping for.." Another one wrote, "Geno’s mother doesn’t like to hear him breathe heavy but she still continues to buy the unhealthy foods." Fans in fact liked the fact Dr Now called out Geno's mother, "Not Dr. Now calling out Nico although the appointment was for Geno... And he called out the mother. Only person he congratulated was the uncle..." One person also tweeted, "When Geno’s mom said how she & her whole family are big & that Geno was therefore bound to be big as well bc of his genes is such a joke… He got big from overeating & picking up same habits as the family.. he’s not big just strictly from genetics."

Seeing his mother complain so much, a fan tweeted, "Genos mom “damn Geno take a minute or something I don’t like you breathing like that!” Damn is either he breaths like that or he dies pick one!" While others pointed out, "Geno was 100lbs at age 6. That’s on his mom." One other viewer added, "The mom is totally enabling Geno." Another fan felt, "Geno and his mom are toxic for him. She can not stand his breathing and sweating. Yet they are the family who can not run out of food. Yet look at her grabbing all this crap for him at the market."
