NASHAVILLE, TENESSEE: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Noah Peters recently a golden ticket to Hollywood on his second shot. He performed 'I Won't Let Go' by Rascal Flatts during his audition.
He has been known as the 'singing barber' in his small Tennessee town. His rise to fame began when a video of him singing Luke Bryan's "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" with a young customer went viral, turning him into an internet sensation.
Following Noah's performance, Katy Perry insisted the 'singing barber' perform another song while doing a haircut. She said, "Do you think you would sing better if you could get a haircut right now."
Katy and Luke Bryan joked about shaving Lionel Richie's head. She then asked the production to bring the chair and the hair-cutting equipment.
Remarkably, 'American Idol' Season 21 finalist Colin Stough joined Noah for a unique experience of a haircut and a duet. Noah performed 'Broken Halos' by Chris Stapleton while skillfully cutting Colin's hair.
Noah not only left Colin impressed with his hair-cutting skills but also garnered praise from the judges for his vocals.
All three ABC show judges, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, unanimously gave a 'yes' to Noah, propelling him to the next round in Hollywood Week. However, Colin later gave a stirring haircut to ABC show host Ryan Seacrest.
Lionel Richie advises Noah Peters to stay in lane
'American Idol' Season 22 judges, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Riche were impressed with Noah Peters' performance. However, Lionel had a son's advice for Noah which could enhance his talent.
After the performance, Lionel suggested, "Don't get psyched out." He added, "You stay true to your lane and you are on to something."
Meanwhile, Katy Perry expressed her hope that Noah wouldn't 'overthink' his performances and encouraged the aspiring singer by saying, "You've got some sweetness to your voice." She further noted, "Prepare for the curveballs that's for sure," adding, "It was oozing out of you. I want you to visualize that." Lionel complimented Noah that his voice had a 'fantastic' quality.
Noah Peters opens his barbershop after his wife's death
Noah Peters owns a Rockridge Barbershop LLC in Grundy, Virginia. Noah wanted to be a barber since childhood and his wife encouraged him to pursue his dream. In a recent interview, Noah shared, "When I was younger, I watched the barber pull money out of his pocket and thought that was going to be me one day."
Noah met his wife Kailee when he moved to Grundy after his father bagged a job as a pastor in the small town. He recalled, "God worked it out that I met my wife when I moved down here. The day I met her, I knew I was going to marry her."
The ABC show singer further shared, "She became my best friend, and we got married." Unfortunately, Noah's wife died only three months after their wedding after her cancer diagnosis. In October 2021, Noah kept the promise that he made to his wife and opened his barbershop.
