Is Luke Bryan quitting 'American Idol'? Country star reveals he's spending more time with family after 'rough year'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As the curtains close on 'American Idol' 2023, fans eagerly await news about the upcoming season. In the meanwhile, speculations are swirling about one of the show's beloved judges. Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan formed a dynamic trio, but murmurs hint that the country star may bid farewell before the 2024 season arrives. The rumors hold true.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 46-year-old musician Luke Bryan bared his soul, acknowledging the challenges he has faced over the past year and sharing his desire to prioritize his family. Reflecting on his juggling act, he openly admitted, "I'm not really balancing it that well this year."
Why is Luke Bryan quitting 'American Idol'?
Luke, who is loved by people in the countryside, is managing his busy career while also taking care of his two sons, 15-year-old Thomas and 12-year-old Tatum, with his wife Caroline. During the interview, Luke shared that he said to Caroline, "'Baby, this is a rough year, let's just get through it and then we'll find a boat and go to the Caribbean or something." When the interviewer responded with, "You always say that," Luke chuckled and replied, "That's what she says!"
Without a doubt, the country singer has a lot on his plate, with his role in 'American Idol' being just a small part of his musical career. Apart from promoting his new song, Luke is also working on a new album and preparing for his tour. In July, Luke will be busy with Country on Tour. In August, Luke will begin his annual Farm Tour and he will then start his Las Vegas residency show. All of these commitments have taken away precious time from Luke to focus on his family the way he wants to, and he realizes that this is something he needs to change.

Luke Bryan craves more family time
Luke is a loving father to five children and cherishes the moments he can spend with them when he's not traveling. With his wife Caroline Boyer, Luke has two sons named Thomas and Tatum, more famous as Bo and Tate respectively. Additionally, after the tragic death of Luke's sister Kelly in 2007 and Kelly's husband Ben Lee Cheshire in 2014, Luke and Caroline adopted their nephew and two nieces named Til, Jordan, and Kris. Luke's family is quite large and requires his attention and responsibility. Due to these family commitments, Luke made the decision to drop out of 'American Idol'. He believes that it is important for him to be there for his family and wants to devote as much time as possible to them. The family often enjoys engaging in farm activities like horse riding and fishing. Luke desires to pass on these farm skills to his children, which is why spending quality time with them is a priority for him.
