When did 'The Voice' Season 25 contestant Kamalei Kawa'a begin singing?

Kamalei Kawa`a, who is currently 27 years old, hails from Waiehu, Maui where he spent his formative years growing up, as per his website. He first picked up the ukulele at the young age of 4 and has been immersed in the world of Hawaiian music ever since. By the time he was 15, he had already honed his skills to the point where he was able to win a prestigious falsetto singing competition.

Kamalei Kawa’a has continued her education and completed his studies in Hawaiian culture and history, receiving an associate degree from the University of Hawaii Maui College. He has been a member of the Hawaiian music group Nā Wai ʻEhā, which has put out two albums: a self-titled album in 2018 and the 11-track 'Lovely Sunrise' in 2019.

The album 'Lovely Sunrise' was nominated for best regional roots album at the 2021 Grammys, but the award was given to 'Atmosphere' by the New Orleans Nightcrawlers.
