Who is Don Spike? Korean singer arrested for meth use, fans shocked his 'decent' family man persona was false
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: With drug use being illegal in a strict and conservative country like South Korea, the general public even drop their favorite celebrities if rumors crop up about substance abuse. On September 27, it was reported that a popular Korean singer-songwriter and composer who was in his 40s was arrested by the police for using meth. He was found in a hotel in the Gangnam area. A few hours later, Korean news outlets reportedly confirmed that the singer is none other than TV personality Don Spike.
Having started out as a producer and singer, Don Spike is currently running a barbeque restaurant and is a regular on variety shows like 'Real Man', 'Two Yoo Project Sugar Man', 'Law of the Jungle' and 'I Can See Your Voice'. Also known as Kim Min-soo, the Nowon Police have reportedly arrested him and are now investigating him for possession and usage of meth on September 26. While looking into another suspect, the police had reportedly confirmed that Don Spike was using meth in Gangnam and nearby areas and had issued an arrest warrant for him. They seized about 30g of meth while the singer reportedly tested positive on his drug test.

Who is Don Spike?
Don Spike is a singer, composer and producer who is popular in South Korea since the 2010s. He became a known face among K-pop fans after he became a regular on variety shows. Fans loved his sense of humor especially during the incident when the hosts of a show claimed that Don Spike looked like BTS' Jimin which has become an inside joke now. He is also known for producing EXO's single 'Miracles in December'. In May, he had been in the news for finally getting hitched as he announced that he was finally getting married. He was also applauded as he joined a couple of other K-pop celebrities to support the victims of the 'Nth Room' sex trafficking scandal.
'Could've just lived a content life'
With Don Spike having a jolly image who just started a family, Knetz were shocked to find out about his alleged drug use. They left comments like, "Seriously you can't believe anyone's image on broadcast," "He could've just lived a content life had he just kept on eating meat all he wants, why does he feel the need to do drugs...," and "I thought he was living life fully with his restaurant business, what is this?"
One fan tweeted, "Omg, not him." Another fan asked, "Who'll cook BBQ in variety shows now?" One fan wrote, "METH THO?? wtf. And i actually thought he's decent."
