Who is Cat Witch on 'The Masked Singer 14'? Fans are in on the secret as judges guess BLACKPINK's Lisa
Season 14 of 'The Masked Singer' has barely begun, and the Fox hit is already rewriting its own playbook. With a bold, never-before-seen twist, the competition has introduced "America's Insider." It's a new element that lets viewers in on a secret the judges don't know, revealing the identity of one contestant before they ever hit the stage. That contestant is Cat Witch. Before her debut performance of Lady Gaga's 'Abracadabra', it was confirmed that the celebrity behind the elaborate feline sorceress costume is actress and singer Kylie Cantrall.
She is best known for Disney's 'Descendants' franchise. While the audience watched with full knowledge of who was under the mask, panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora were left completely unaware, continuing their usual guessing game. The twist immediately added amusement to the premiere, especially because of Cantrall's real-life connection to one of the judges. Rita Ora starred alongside Cantrall as her on-screen mother in Descendants: The Rise of Red' and will reprise the role in the upcoming sequel, as per Parade.
This makes Ora's inability to recognize her voice all the more ironic. Cat Witch ultimately faced off against Googly Eyes in the episode's final showdown. Her costume was one of the most striking of the night: a sleek black cat face with glowing green eyes, topped with an oversized witch’s hat, paired with a dramatic burgundy outfit and flowing cape. Viewers were shown a red spell book, a clear wink to Cantrall's role as Red in 'The Rise of Red', along with a secluded cabin in the woods, a bubbling cauldron filled with a red potion that turned green, a tiger figurine, and purple soda pop.
Cat Witch also hinted at a personal evolution, teasing that she was "ready to shed" her image and reveal a "more mature" side of herself. With no knowledge of the insider reveal, the panel tossed out a wide range of guesses. Ora speculated that the performer might be Charli D'Amelio, pointing to her dance ability, influencer appeal, and Broadway credentials. McCarthy Wahlberg leaned toward Addison Rae, citing the contestant's modern pop energy. Jeong went in a completely different direction, linking the "soda pop" clue to his own film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' and guessing Lisa from BLACKPINK, while also referencing her acting work on 'The White Lotus'.
Moreover, the premiere ended with a dramatic triple exit. Googly Eyes was unmasked as baseball legend David Ortiz, according to E! News. Meanwhile, the duo known as The Croissants was also eliminated, but their identities will remain hidden until the second episode. With secrets already spilling and judges unknowingly guessing one of their own former co-stars, season 14 has made it clear: ‘The Masked Singer’ is no longer playing by its old rules.
