Lioness’ Season 3 Episode 2 picked up after Joe (played by Joe Saldaña) was abducted while on her way to work. In a flash-forward scene, viewers then learned that a group of Russian men kidnapped her and stripped her to search for a tracker under her skin. Despite Joe’s repeated attempts to tell them that the CIA doesn’t implant tracking devices, her abductors were determined to find one. Only after she was about to get tortured did she tell them the location of the tracker. Elsewhere, Joe’s team and her boss, Kaitlyn Meade (played by Nicole Kidman), learned about her abduction and began looking for her with the help of the tracker. However, when they arrived at the location, they learned that the tracker had been removed from Joe’s right foot and she had been moved elsewhere.

The second episode also featured events from when Joe was attacked at her home by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) agents, whom she shot dead. Kaitlyn and Joe’s team, along with the local police officers and CIA agents, arrived at the scene and secured the area. Notably, her team's search for potential remaining foreign agents took a turn as they found three additional individuals.

Later in the episode, Joe, Kaitlyn, Byron, and others had a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Edwin Mullins (played by Morgan Freeman). They discussed how Joe’s identity may have been exposed and how long it may have been compromised. Joe shared her suspicions about the Ukrainian double agent who revealed the information that led them to capture Yurimov in the first episode. During the meeting, Joe also noted that if that were the case, the individual they had captured might not even be the real Yurimov. By the end of the second episode, viewers witnessed a deeper and more suspenseful plot unraveling.

As a result of Joe’s suspicions, her teammates Tex (played by Jonah Wharton) and Cruz Manuelos (played by Laysla De Oliveira), along with CIA senior case officer Kyle (played by Thad Luckinbill), were sent to abduct the Ukrainian double agent. She was at the bar, and Kyle threatened to meet her outside, where she was forcefully taken into a van. He told her, “In case you haven’t already figured it out, you got a lot of explaining to do.” After the meeting concluded, Joe was also sent to the safe house where her family was placed under her team’s protection. It seems that ‘Lioness’ Season 3 Episode 3 might reveal more details about who was behind Joe’s abduction, along with where Joe was taken after her kidnapping in the flash-forward events.
