When will 'My 600-lb Life' Season 12 air?
'My 600-lb Life' returns Wednesday, March 6, at 8 pm ET for Season 12. The series delves into the lives of morbidly obese people who turn to Dr Now to improve their health.
This season follows the emotional and physical problems of all-new patients, including a disabled man looking for a means to stand, a bride-to-be hoping to someday walk down the aisle, and a recovered drug addict whose life is now driven by a new addiction: binge-eating.
What does 'My 600-lb Life' Dr Younan Nowzaradan charge?
Dr Now, the star of 'My 600-lb Life', is committed to treating his patients and appears to follow the Hippocratic Oath to the fullest extent feasible. He revealed this during an interview with Houstonia magazine.
“Looking at the moral obligation that we’ve got, you see somebody who has no life who could have a life. We don’t need to be rich. We do make a living, but we don’t need to worry about making a living out of every patient we see,” he told the publication.
“I never let the camera change my behavior toward any patient. I do exactly the same thing if the camera is there or not,” he continued.
So it's hardly surprising that Dr Now doesn't charge people for visits and treatments on the program. Fans would agree that he does not appear to be the sort of person who would profit from the difficulties of others.
Are patients paid for being on 'My 600-lb Life'?
Not only does 'My 600-Lb Life' provide free access to Dr Now and his assistants, but patients also receive stipends for participating in the popular TLC show. While it is not exactly the same as a star television income, it does provide them with something to help cover potential travel and other expenditures.
According to The List, participants who appear on 'My 600-lb Life' receive a flat $1,500 stipend to participate in the show. Furthermore, if they determine that the client needs to relocate to be closer to Dr Now, the program offers a $2,500 payout.
Season 12 of 'My 600-lb Life' premieres Wednesday, March 6 at 8 pm ET/PT on TLC and Max.
